A mate of mine who introduced me to mtb'ing many years ago has finally hung up his bike due to ill health nothing life threatening but unable to cycle. We have been all over the country together biking and camping, had many crashes, laughs and out days soaked in the rain. I feel slightly empty knowing we will never hammer it round Afan together again. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Time to buy some walking boots and join him for a good walk.

Thats a real bummer. Has he come to terms with it ok? I reckon I'd literally be in mourning if it was me. Hope he's ok ๐Ÿ™

Not good. Happened to the mate who got me into it too. Luckily he's ok now and able to go for rides. (But he moved away)

Sad sad news ...is it defo forever?

Had a guy round the track last week who's not ridden in 3/4yrs since a major stroke.... few laps on the back of a tandem and he was buzzing

Diabetes, nearly killed him at one point and 5 years on has never really got it under control. He has lost a lot of weight and every time he tries to build himself up again it all goes tits up. Add to that chronic asthma that seems to get worse the older he gets and TBH I think he has given up. Not the man he used to be.
