Under counter fridge built in to my kitchen cabinet is playing up. Freezer compartment keeps defrosting (kind of good), fridge isn't cold enough and the milk goes off, but then if I fiddle with the temperature dial and turn it back to where it was it seems to kick in a while later and is fine again for several days, then does it again.

First question - what's knackered?

Second question - recommendations for places and/or models to get as replacement 😀

It needs replacing really anyway. Freezer compartment handle snapped off ages ago and have to use a paper clip to keep it shut, and then I'd rather not have a freezer compartment at all anyway.

It's an MFI job. Not sure on the fridge make, can't find the instructions. Are these things a standard size?

Oh, and which modern fridges don't explode? 😉

I have a beko fridge and beko freezer under the counter units and both were cheap and both seem to work just fine.

Just avoid anything by Beko as they seem to think it's ok to burn customer's homes down....

Replacing ours which is also playing up with an undercounter fridge. More room as you do't have the recess for the skirting and cheaper too!

Yep, they're a standard size, or one of several standard sizes. We have one that we hate that we're going to replace with a Siemens or similar decent quality thing at some point.

Ikea one was good for me, had it about a year now so I think still current model. Easy enough to swap the door to the correct side and hang the decor door back on, nice bright LED bulb, cold food, job's a good'un.

John Lewis own brand.

Although STW probably won't accept anything less than a Miele.

What temp is the kitchen? Standard fridges and freezers start to misbehave when the ambient temp gets cooler than approx +10C and bizarrely, Beko freezers are uniquely designed to work to approx -10C (yet Beko are often placed at the cheap and nasty end of the market).

Well boiler playing up also 😀 , so often it fails to heat the house particularly when it gets cold outside (long standing issue which I have a workaround for flipping a couple of temp sensor wires, but I flip them back when out of the house and when it's super cold it sits there not heating despite room stat saying it should).

Not sure it's sub 10C though. Thermostat says 19, maybe 17 if I let it cool too much. Though feels freezing unless heating is working and temp gets to about 20.
