Looks like the old one is on its way out. What's a good brand without spending silly money?

Any fridge with an "A" energy rating.

Bosch is a good name, but a fridge is a fridge!

Poncy ones cost an arm and a leg coz women just have to have one that is "just so".

Always bear in mind; A fridge is a fridge!

all frost free will breakdown more than non frost free, cos of all the extra stuff,

the better the "A" rating the worse the fridge, they use less electricity but struggle to keep food under legal temperatures in a warm home or the summer, i go to someones house every day asking me why there food goes off so quick, and its cos they bought energy efficient crap

bosch is a good name, yes , but there products are crap in my opinion

lg make very good fridge freezers

but most makes these days dont last long poor quality compressors

i would honestly buy a normal price ff like a beko they are a good european make, much better than hotpoint hoover candy creda and indesit, and take a currys whatever happens warranty out on it, so thats a cheap fridge and a cheep warranty and you are sorted for 5 years rather than a expensive fridge with a one year

i dont work for currys i contract for 136 different warranty companies

Not worth buying the "extended" warranties, the Sale of Goods Act can be used to get the retailer to repair/replace goods such as fridges up to a "reasonable" time after sale (approx 6 yrs in the case of fridges). I've just done just that after my frost free freezer packed in 18 months after sale.

Check out comet auctions.

I'd buy as cheap as poss (taking into account energy ratings), also try cash offer on demo models at showrooms.

Personally don't think extended warranty a good idea.

*Based on a rather cynical expectation that we live in diposable world and most stuff is explicitly designed to not be repairable (and taking into acccount UK callout and labour charges) plus parts availability and cost.

2nd for BEKO products - reasonably priced and good value IMO.

Have had my BEKO Fridge and freezer some 7 years now and never a problem. Both units are B rated so not bad for consumption. Perhaps not as flash as some products but very good all the same
