Driving to work this morning, 6.30am, a little Pantera on the player to blow away the cobwebs.

Got me thinking, which albums have great opening tracks? An opening track that really get you into the album with a bang. The albums don't have to be classics, just have great opening songs.

(if you wanna include the Eating, drinking, listening thats fine to)

I'll kick off:

Pantera - Cowboys from Hell - Cowboys from Hell.

RATM - Bombtrack - RATM.

Aerosmith - Eat the Rich - Get a Grip (i know technically the 2nd track...)

Dialectic Chaos on Endgame by megadeth.
It's instrumental but the lead into the second track is awesome \m/ 😀

Good thread. I'm sure I'll think of loads later, but the first one to come to mind was The Kiss by the Cure. They also opened with this when I went to see them live in Birmingham NEC and I was right in the front row!

Also, didn't Frankie Goes to Hollywood kick off with a mega long version of Welcome to the Pleasuredome?

+1 for London Calling and FGTH

I'm sure to get flamed but Welcome To The Pleasure Dome is IMO a superb album that has stood the test of time. The opening track is the perfect start to a long early morning drive

"son, I'm 30, I only went with your mother 'cos she's dirty"

Proper good opener to a really patchy but good vibes album.

Good track, but not the opening one from that album, that honour goes to Invaders I believe

Snow White Diner on the Handsome Family album "Twilight" always grabs my attention. Songs written in the present tense and first person always put you right there and that's quality narration.
Boxelder has a point with Grandaddy too - what a band they were!
Since the split, Jason's solo album was disappointing, but the new Admiral Radley album is worth every penny.

Loooooads of albums have a great opening track, let's have a rule:

The opening track has to be the best track, that'll narrow it right down.

Now it's on

+1 that man.

A Thousand Trees / Stereophonics / Word Gets Around (Still a great album, shame it's been a steady decline since)

The Final Arrears / Us / Mull Historical Society

What's the Frequency Kenneth? / REM / Monster

Into the Valley / The Skids / Dunfermline

Stuck Between Stations / The Hold Steady / Boys & Girls in America

Dog Eat Dog; Kings of the wild frontier...Kinda sets out it's stall early.

Come together; Abbey Road. Lordy what a way to start

This is a call; Foo Fighters.

Ceremony; Substance New Order (Ok possibly not the best track on the album, but hey it's still a hell of a way to go...)

Cherub Rock; Siamese Dream Smashing Pumpkins.

Bone Machine Surfer Rosa Pixies.

Message in a bottle Regatta De blanc Police

To start
