We use a freesat from Sky box and card for tV as our terrestrial signal is shite. I bought a sky+ box from Eichler off here (great transaction btw) expecting to shove the card in and all be good i.e. pause/rewind/record etc.

But no - whats the cheapest way to get the function of sky+?

ring sky and set up a Sky+ account

you may struggle to get them to actually understand what you want mind - just escalate it up till someone knows what you want

You could ditch sky and swap to a Freesat box instead (they aren't the same) and save your £10 a month.

I would think you need a Sky card not a freesat card, which means a subscription to Sky......although that may have changed, used to work for them........so, erm, good luck

Yep, £10 pcm to Sky for Sky+ functionality. Why not sell the box on the bay and put it towards one of these?... 🙂

no, you can use a short jumper between lnb inputs. this will allow you to watch and record about half the channels simultaneously. in practice, it's no hardship.

I've no idea what that is

Yes, you need a twin LNB but I don't think they're available for a Sky mini dish any more, so you'll need to use a quad, just a few quid of ebay - or ask Ton - you'll then need to run a 2nd cable down to the box from it.

Whatever system you go for you'll need at least 2 feeds if you want to record something other than what you're watching or record more than 1 channel at a time

like people have said, the only way to get the recording facility working on a sky+ or sky+ hd reciever is the subscribe to a package.

i can sell you a quad lnb tho. £10 delivered.

stick it in the front of your dish and run 2 cables from it into the rf1 and rf2 on the sky+ box.
