So I'm trying to delete my Gmail account. Any ideas how to backup the 170 odd emails before I get rid of it? I really don't want to have to go through each one and forward it to another email account.

Cheers

Get Thunderbird (or Outlook if you must - I'd normally recommend Gmail for this, but clearly it's not appropriate in this case!) Enable POP3 and set up your client to connect to Gmail. Done.

The great thing about Gmail is how easy stuff like this is (I'm doing the opposite and using Gmail to get stuff from another server via POP3). 😉

Thanks. Can they access multiple email accounts? I'm getting lost with about 7 email accounts and I'd like a program that can connect to all of them. Preferably without logging in and out of each one all the time. Does such a program exist?

It's been well established that if google have your emails they're on the internet for ever and ever. Delete them from your account and if you ever need them in the future just google them.

Thanks.

Samuri: Depressingly, probably true. One of the reasons I'm getting rid of it. That and the fact that it seems to want to connect with everything. This new interpipe trend of having everything try and be everything, or connect everything to everything does my nut in.

Yes - Gmail does a pretty good job, is something I've got set up with it 😉
