Charles always seems to make silly mistakes, Ferrari always muck something up, even if one of them gets their act together the other one will muck something up, Im guessing from Leclerc side there isn't really anywhere else to go within the other top 2-3 teams plus driving for Ferrari must feel very special even if your not winning much

I get the impression other teams don't feel he's at the Max and Lewis (in his heyday) level. If they did they'd be fighting over him.

Now Lewis is getting results too it seems to be messing with his head. Blaming the brakes when he's been round that corner 60+ times already in the race is a bit of a stretch. Them pitting Lewis first and letting him serve his penalty really wound him up.

First time with them at that temperature. Be interesting to see what comes out, but I assumed it was a cold temperature issue after following the safety car

I've cycled a lot of the Monaco F1 circuit.

I tried to walk it, (obviously you can't do the whole thing because of the tunnel) agreed about the traffic, pretty bad. Watching the super-cars pull up to the hotel while you 'enjoy' an overpriced coffee, is about the sum total for a tourist in Monaco (unless you have squllions to spend obvs) and I though Monaco itself, outside of Casino Square and shore front was actually pretty dull - despite the gigantic yachts in the harbour.

At least the race this year was entertaining. Kimi drove like he was being chased by the cops, pretty impressive stuff. Even Bono was telling him to slow down at the end.

Massive queues of traffic everywhere. High end traffic yes - but I was super conscious that I was cycling past wing mirrors worth more than my bike. The circuit would make a brilliant crit race; it's dull as ditchwater for a fast-car race.

Next day, I cycled around the outside of the city, looking down on the high-ride buildings and the casual excess of yachts and helicopters and just found it all quite offensive.

I heard about the luxury and excess of Monaco so went as a tourist. It was luxurious and exceeive just like they said it would be so I was offended.

If you can't cope with different places havig different people with different life values and life styles then I suggest you give up being a tourist. In other shock news, the North Pole gets chilly while the Sahara can be a bit warm.

😉

The track had actually started to break up at the final corner, there was a big patch of broken tarmac, it seems to have caught Stroll out too.

Kimi was absolutely brilliant though, without the safety cars he might have lapped the field

They'll have seen that for many laps. Apparently Checo was reporting it breaking up early in the race.

Missed this yesterday, apparently Merc will get ADUO (additional upgrades) to improve their engine?!

(also Honda could be up to 48 BHP off the top PU..!)

I know we’re off topic here, and I get that folk shouldn’t go out looking to be offended, but there’s good reasons why the pole is cold and the desert is hot.

but there’s not really a good reason why a $100,000,000 yacht exists. There are reasons, I just don’t think they’re good ones.

Yeah, I found the same at Saint Tropez. I did add the smiley face just to make it clear there wasn't a real nasty poke at you.

Oh, the ironing!

AIUI, Merc's advantage is on the electrical side, but that doesn't count for this, only ICE output. Merc clearly have the best overall package of ICE and electrical power, surely the sensible thing to do would be to measure those independently and give the manufacturers extra opportunity to develop the electrical system as well if that is uncompetitive.

While I get what AUDO is for, I still think there should be 'just' a budget cap and teams should be free to use that as they see fit.

They've had to remove their compression loophole tweek from Monaco onwards. Obviously any loss of performance won't show up at Monaco. May be different this weekend.

How does that work for customer teams? Do they have to pay the engine supplier some of their budget cap towards improvements? Mercedes supply 3 other teams so would potentially have a lot more budget available to them than Honda if that were the case.

It always used to be the case that engines had to be supplied at a fixed cost. $16m springs to mind.

Well if it's true, then RBPT/Ford have done an incredible job on the ICE. I know they snagged some names from Honda & Merc HPP, but still.

edit- also ADUO is tested via the ICE only, but manufacturers are actually allowed to upgrade the ERS also.

I saw the highlights from yesterday, the first footage I’ve seen this year.
Is it me or does anyone else think that this year’s cars look a bit skittish compared to previous years when everything looked a bit smoother and more controlled?

Less downforce and the drivers seem to have less control of the brakes and acceleration with the new energy deployment algorithyms?

I suspect a lot of the problem is that harvesting is only allowed on the rear axle so they need to be very aggressive on setting up the regenerative braking, in other words, have the rears right on the limit of locking under brakes.

However, Hamilton disliked the Brembo brakes that Ferrari was using and insisted on changing to Carbon Industries rotors. Leclerc has apparently decided to follow suit.

Yeah definitely.

The ground effect cars rewarded driving smoothly and avoiding kerbs to keep the floor as level to the ground as possible.

Now that's not really a concern, the drivers can hustle the car around a bit more.

Maybe this is why we are seeing an improvement in Hamilton’s driving and the reason Leclerc is complaining about the brakes as he has used Brembo’s rotors since coming to F1

Im guessing Brembo arent too happy with Ferrari using Brembo calipers but with Carbon Industries rotors
