We’re heading over for a week on Friday. Plan to ride from Pedalbikeaway a few times and have a half day booked with Katy Curd for some coaching.

Where else can we head to ride with fairly competent kids (11+12) in the area. We’re staying just north of Ross and are happy to travel a bit for somewhere fun.

Also, what non-riding stuff would you recommend? We’ve done Puzzlewood a few times and the little railway and the caves. Just moochy walks and places of interest to explore would be great.

Thanks!

Head to Whitemead. Indoor pool & lots of outdoor activities you can book on to. Nice pub on site with decent food too. We are there in a fortnight. Kids were given the choice for hols this year but chose Whitemead, which we were over the moon with because we love the place.
We might be heading down to Simmonds Yat while there, to see about canoeing.

We stayed in clearwell a couple of years ago and had great afternoon wandering about the village & on the playing fields with a ball etc plus a visit to Clearwell caves*.
Just be sure to show them the league of gentlemen first!

Sculpture trail is popular with visitors.

Go Ape - there's a "junior" one at Beechenhurst, and a bigger one at Mallards Pike. Also Segway tours in the woods at Mallards...

Symonds Yat is good for an explore. Try to spot peregrine falcons from the watching platform, walk along the cliffs watching the rock climbers, head to the river to watch the kayakers.

Moochy walk around Symonds Yat viewpoint and forest is lovely

The little hand chain ferry across the river is fun and the pub is nice

Defo do a canoe trip - you can do ones of various lengths. We have used Monmouth Canoe a few times

If it is hot, have a wild swim in the rive. Watch out as some areas are quite deep and fast flowing.

There’s easily a weeks worth of riding in the FoD without heading anywhere else.

Rush skatepark
Tinturn Abbey definitely worth a visit
Flyup 417 project is nearby - never been but indoor dirt jumps/pump track if weather is not nice.
Gloucester apparently has a new BMX/pump track.

Show them boxed set of Primeval, tell them it was filmed here, then "lose" them in the FOD, had ours going for a while....
