Might want to make sure your password is set, or if it is, not to the default.

Especially, Foscam products.

Nice to see the gov starting an advertising campaign on cyber security but there's clearly a lot of progress to be made both on the part of the user and equally importantly the manufacturers.

It's only going to get worse as everything goes online (the so called 'internet of things') and consumers will continue to fail to weigh up the trade-off between security and convenience.

Stories like this are good though as 'thinking of the children' is one of the better ways to galvanise people into action.

LOL at the watcher comments on the thread.

Did you hear the BBC presenter trying to get outraged this morning?
... a child's bedroom, with live streaming of a child sleeping!

Oh, the horror.

Is this news? Haven't there been websites linking to unsecured feeds for years?

I'm sure there was even an app for them.

Well, it's in the news, and on the news.

So if it quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, then it's probably news.

Why now? Well probably because the Government is actually looking into taking action, and close down insecam.cc. Although, you're right, and there are others, and have been for ages.

...or as a comment on The Guardian put it:

So basically someone in the govt saw this on reddit about a week ago, and it took this long to make a suitably stupid public outcry over it..
