"Rare vintage machines from both Thorens and Garrard drive the platter with an idler wheel, giving music a force and foundation that are hard to match by belt and direct-drive units".

Slowoldman,

In the days before Technics the dub sound system guys used to prefer vintage Garrard for precisely the reasons mentioned. And when it comes to exploring the limits is audiophnic force and foundation is there anyone better?

So yes, really!
