Using Endnote and Word I'm looking to add something into my references that I haven't actually cited within the text. Any idea how?

I can only seem to add my citations, and can't see how I can add anything else.

* This maybe means it's technically not a list of references, but I've seen it done elsewhere

There may be an official way to do this, but if it is only one or two things, then you can just cite them somewhere you have a bit of white space, and change the font colour to white (and tiny font if you need space). I know it is very gross, but it does the job.

No other suggestions, so might have to go with that method unfortunately 😕

It sounds like the reference you want to add should go into your bibliography. From memory, your references should only be used to substanciate your direct citations in your text.

Joe's idea or type it manually.

Not sure why you'd want to have a reference for something that isn't mentioned in your text though?

A very simple solution to all your problems is in the words of linux and LaTeX.
Assle free once you have passed the learning curve, BiBTeX works a treat. Since you are an academic you really should support it anyway.

Now there is a contradiction in terms!

And Scruff is right, if you haven't referred to it in the text it needs to go in a bibliography.
But TBH, if it's important to include, then there should be a bit of text you could hang it off.

Insert the reference as normal, e.g.

{Aplin, 2007 #447}.

But delete the author and date to leave:

{#447}

When you format the bibliography the code will disappear but the reference will appear in the bibiography.
