me and my mates had a band called..>Dissilusion...
we did our own songs, our best was a little ditty called "what you wanna do?" and another was called "staggering home sober"....and another called "everything is funny" and "The long and winding road"....I know there were more but can't remember names
Unfortunately, we all went to uni, got old and married and kids and it fell apart......
our influences were JJ72 (remember them lol) Oasis, Blur, Stereophonics (very heavily) and Bad Company
I never knew enough musicians to start a band. That's probably why I'm so crap still...
i wouldn't say we were amazing but we could hold a tune or two
Me and my best friend did a recording on a tape player when we were 14. She played the piano and I sang. Our favourite track was Brian Adams - Everything I do. We rocked, clearly.
I've been in a million bands - hence I hate 'musicians'
I'm quite happy to widdle on my own now 😀
"Slippery Strings" broke up due to unreconcilable differences within the band. I liked Sonic Youth, the Paisley Underground and grunge (and wanted to call the band "Bleat"). We 'played' Thin Lizzy and *gulp* Natalie Umbruliglieas seminal "Torn"...
I still cringe when I think of the one "gig" we put on...
Yep. Had relative success too.
We were gigging about 100 times a year and managed three UK tours with Sqeeze as support and supported Elvis Costello a couple of times too
We were in line for a good record deal with V2 but unfortunately another *new band were given the contract. In the end I enjoyed the recreational side of it too much as was asked to leave. Shortly after that they split up after 5 years of playing all over the UK.
*Band were the Stereophonics.
what was the band name maximus
the setting, a pub in Reading
me: what instruments in that case?
him: a banglale
me: oh... I've got a double bass but I havn't touched it in 5 years
his mate: do you want to join our band?
That was about 9 months ago I guess, I've almost remembered how to play the bl**dy thing.
When I was at school, I was in a band called 'Static' that just did terrible covers, mostly of Metallica. Friends would joke that we were called 'Static' because we weren't going anywhere. Our singer could actually do a fairly passable (for a 15 year old) James Hetfield impression and totally hero worshipped him, our lead guitarist was a massive goth, I was really into death metal and our drummer was a devout Christian so wouldn't play any of the songs that were rude about God, wanted to play weddings and loved Toto. I think I've still got a cassette of us murdering Enter Sandman and Fade to Black somewhere.
I later joined a Judas Priest tribute band. We were fairly awful, mainly because we couldn't get a decent vocalist. The guitarist ended up singing, but couldn't really play guitar at the same time, so ended up massively simplifying his parts - which doesn't really work for Judas Priest. We did a few original numbers, I got told off for not taking it seriously because I referred to the one song as "Bouncy Bats" 🙁
I miss our band! We used to play in Leeds and also had a small dance troupe as well 🙂

Lol@ralli.. you are such a hippe fruitcake but you're also far too nice a bloke to take the mickey out of 🙂 Good man 🙂
Have been for years until the guitarist went to New Zealand... No band now. Miss it a lot.
Tried to get one going but it never worked as we couldn't find a singer and bassist so it was just me and a drummer. It was fun though 🙂
Other than that I was in a cover band for around 4 years and still do the occasional gig with them when their other guitarist can't make it. I tend to get the higher paid ones which is great!
was in a school band "The Clits" 🙄 never actually performed. Our one gig was going to be a year 13 end of trem party/BBQ thing but the Head wasn't impressed. We did very bad covers VU, QOTSA, Pixies, that sort of thing.
If anyone's in the South Wales area and needs a bad singer or bad guitarist with no experience and wide ranging tastes, let me know.
I'm trying to put a new one together right now. have a singer lined up, need a guitarist & a bass player. Aim to do hard riffing rock, NOT metal, in the style of Terrorvision, Foo Fighters, Therapy? etc.
anyone in the Leeds area interested?
here's my last band: www.wickeffect.co.uk.
Not hard riffing rock like Terrorvision et al. Most often compared to Editors. Blutac from these here parts was on guitar
i've been in half a dozen bands over the last 20 years or so. moderately successful within the underground hardcore/punk scene, i suppose.
Actually I am solo right now. I recorded my CD last week and you can [url=
in touch via my album's facebook page if you want to Like it 🙂

I did some bad vocals in Pariah a sixth form band formed by a bunch of mates, from which one of us went on to greater things. Gets a brief mention on Wikipedia
yup, released an album, great reviews in all the magazines, toured, offers to tour in america and eaurope, sold out venues and got to play as main support to my two all time favourite bands before i left due to my back problems stopping me from being able to tour properly. bands working on the second album now
lifes a lot less stressful when you're not constantly dealing with press, the record label and fans!
I remember seeing the new fads in Leeds in 1991... Not a bad band from what I can remember.
