I must "live in a very sheltered world", because I couldnt see a racist angle to this at all?
Tend to agree with you. read the blog - I think its americans not understanding / looking to take offence / putting their own values on it.
I have posted a comment to that effect - want to bet its not allowed on?
I thought that article was just people with an agenda making something out of nothing...good on ya for speaking up.
These people are looking for any excuse... 'burn the witch'
stupid yanks.
Wierd, I could totally see it. Not sure how you can miss it tbh.
Nothing to add to the blog post tbh on why this is, that seemed to cover it mostly and well. Only comment I'd make re. the American perspective is that the "blackface" element maybe chimes more over there than over here, but taken as a whole, I can totally see why people are finding this problematic and insensitive.
I could be biased though, cos I've got no time for the warbly faux-hippy Kate Bush rip-off merchant in the first place.
over hyped shouty pop music
I get the feeling that blogger and the commenters on there would have the ability to perceive pretty much anything racist 🙂
Show em an image of George Bush - Racist!! White power fixation
Show em an image of Barack Obama - Racist!! Black tokenism.
Show em a blank image of 50% greytone - Racist!! Denying racial indivualism.
etc. etc.
What's 'blackface'?
Bunch of idiots, its a music video. Not everything needs to be dissected.
It's a rubbish video though isn't it, like the sort of thing you'd see on Beavis and Butthead.
Is greenfacing racist?
unsuprisingly they have not put my comments up.
