after a new office chair for home. Occasional use at desk in the house which will get relocated to the hall or somewhere due to impending arrival of mini burko73 mk2.

Have been looking for a nice office chair that is a decent looking and is a classic design and not too fussy.

The eames ea 117 is a classic, have been looking at second hand versions but concerned about longevity etc.

There are also s9me truly horrible cheapo versions around which look rubbish.

Ther are a few online places that do a new version of the classic design for a few hundred quid that get good reviews and are real leather.

Anyone got any tips ref where to get a decent repro of the classic design ea 117?

i can’t stretch to the herman Meyer versions at £2k.

Burko

Something similar from Ikea would do me. I am not cultured enough to tell the difference.

Cult Furniture? Have bought other repros from there before and all good (Tolix chairs and RAR Eames rocking chair).

Iconic, not that I have bought anything from them but it looks like they have good QC and operate at the ‘quality knock off’ end of the market.

i like the look of their PK22 chairs having sat in the real thing at the scandium shop (the price tag made me feel a bit ill though)

We used to have eames 117's in our conference room and whilst they are nice looking and comfortable enough for an hour or so I wouldn't recommend them as an all day office chair. Lack of adjustability, lack of support and the length of the arms means they cant be pulled in as close to the desk as most decent office chairs.
