[Closed] First world dilema...xbox one or ps4??

Thing is my lad wants an Xbox, mainly because his mates have them so he can play online with his pals.

This is all that matters!

"What your mates have" is the correct answer.

The PS4 is nominally more powerful, but that's irrelevant for all practical purposes.

His mates have all bought what's shaping up to be this generations wrong console, but if he wants to play online with his mates then he's gonna need the same one.

I would buy the PS4, so he can bask in the intoxicating (though admittedly lonely) glow of knowing that he's right and they are wrong.

Ive been an ps fan since I've had a ps3 myself. I like the fact there's no online sub and has been a really good machine. But xbox is smilar to apple, all the sheep prefer it for some reason.

The PS4 is outselling the One by quite a margin, so in isolation the PS4 is (arguably) the better purchase. However, this point is eclipsed by the fact that all his mates have a different machine. So when they're all online together in the evening and excitedly talking about the session the next day, he'll be billy no-mates.

Look at it like this. All your mates are going out for a curry. You believe the curry house down the road is better than the one they're all going to. Which one do you go to, do you sit in the empty restaurant on your tod smug in the knowledge that you have slightly crispier poppadoms?

The other thing to consider of course is,

The PS4 is more popular than the One with (nominally) adult males the likes of which frequent STW, as it's an out and out gaming rig. The One by comparison bills itself as a complete home entertainment system.

Now for me personally (and no doubt other pseudo-adults), I've little interest in the media streaming and all that jazz as I already have these bases covered with my Sky subscription and what have you. As a console for 14-year old me in my bedroom however, I'd probably have been all over the One like a tramp on chips.

PSone. Best of both worlds(ish).

Do you get him what he wants or what he doesn't want? Platform choice is a very personal matter in boys up to the age of about 35 or so.

LOL... sensitive lot... It was a joke/dig based on an earlier post. I have neither and couldn't care less. At least not until Nem Jnr realises that his 360 (given free so it wasn't chosen) is old hat 🙂

They will be both a success, neither one is wrong. You will be using it for at least the next 5 years and both systems will have brilliant exclusives and also exactly the same games(FIFA etc...) Xbox hands down for playing with mates, as per the previous gen 360.

Fact is a few mates have an xbox but in a few months i bet he'll be saying....dad, everyone is getting the PS4 now!!

Second hand XBone now and then sell it and get a second hand PS4 when he wants to change...

My sons got the ps4 and I've got the xbox,I prefer the xbox over the ps4,especially after the latest update my sky+ now work with the kinect,and the xbox has some nice exclusives combing out.
