Housemate is working on his portfolio, has got loads of snowboarding and was the cameraman for the gumball rally a few years ago and now wants to film me...

I've got a few sections in mind that I think would make interesting viewing but have never filmed/been filmed, any simple mistakes I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Anybody else a bit bored of super rad stuff? It just does not seem rad any more. One of the reasons the Danny M films are good is due to the change of locations and seeing peoples reactions. It would be nice to have a film with a story however stupid or simple. Different filming technique and stuff. You also need to change the tempo as well, building up to things ect. From the midweek movies I like the thisissheffield stuff but I am wondering how many times you can have the same "bored person getting out of bed - rad cycle ride - work" stories you can have. Maybe a film of something you can't do, some chat, (Big jump, climb, etc.) trying to do it, succeeding or going to hospital would be good.

How about a study on how your riding changes, the more alcohol you consume?

Step 1: Find a nice technical trail to ride (which is also good for filming)

Step 2: Have a beer

Step 3: Ride the section again, being filmed.

Step 4: Have another beer.

Step 5: Ride the section again..

Step 6: Have another beer...

(etc etc..)

I like that idea Xiphon, "The effect of Honey Beer on power and skill"

I reckon power would be way up, skill not so much...

Do something nobody has ever done before. If I've already seen it once, I don't want to see it again, that's the internet that's made me that way that is. I've never seen anyone do a quadruple backflip, if that helps.

I'd never seen anyone stick a TV remote up their arse until this thread:

I have now, so that's no good, but it doesn't have to be a quadruple backflip.

Follow klunks advice and sort out your own air ambulance beforehand 😉

Maybe do something a bit "normal"?

I watched Follow Me (radness) - bored me to tears - followed by Pretty Sweet (just some guys with bikes & a camera) and felt really inspired to go riding cos it was done in the kind of places I like & can fairly easily get to.

They also kept their wheels on the ground like I tend to 🙂

To be honest, its his portfolio so he'll know what he wants. You can take him to your favorite bits, he should do the rest.

To be honest (part 2) I find MTB vids really boring, the only one that was any good was Dirt, and thats because at the time it was groundbreaking

Dirt and Chainspotting are still great because it's just lads goofing around on bikes in a totally credible and amateurish way; just like you, but on a good day!

That camaraderie and sense of fun is diminished, or just missing from a lot modern bike films.
