Just talking about this at work here, over lunch, you can tell how busy we are here!

When was the last time you got into a fight, I am talking about actually swinging a punch and making actual contact, not a war of words.

It seems here, in this office we have 3 different groups:

Group 1 - This group have never thrown a punch in their life, the thought of hitting someone fills them with terror.

Group 2 - This group have swapped the odd punch at school and then nothing since.

Group 3 - Then the final group, who seem happy to throw their fists about on a weekly basis!

What shocked me, was the number women we have here who are in the last group!

You can guess which group I am in, cowereing in the corner of the office here 😉

I 'bounced' for a while when I was at Uni. Pretty much all of the violence and antagonism came from two groups...
Women and short gobby men.

It was the girls that were scariest though! Evil when they get down to fighting!

Used to get in fights regularly as a teen / 20 something in Aberdeen. The Aberdeen soccer casuals didn't usually give you a choice.....

Haven't hit anyone for at least six years now - truly hope I'll never have to again.

Group 2 late developer? - Been in a few at school & as teenager, but in my early 20's I scared myself by losing my cool & half killing & hospitalising a guy who just wouldn't go down - turned out he was high on speed in a club & my friend got glassed (in the stomach!!) and that was it for me, come close but haven't needed to since and don't plan to, the pssible consequences are too bad. After that I only used to like sparring in karate for fun. I should say I've never started a fight, so I'm not a meathead, in fact I'm an accountant for gods sake!

I play ice hockey, so I guess I am in the weekly category...but TBH most hockey fights are more akin to a bad dance than anything else.

I'm well over 6' and all the grief I get is from gobby little sh1ts trying to prove how hard they are by picking a fight with the biggest guy in the pub.

group 2,

nowadays i either
*shout them down (quite easy)
*get myself higher than them and generaly look mean (having a scar to the face helps here)
*failing the first two, presume theyr too drunk to run, and leg it!

my ex cage fighting housemate (5.11 and makes props look underdeveloped!) on the other hand seems to delite in breaking people on the weekend!

Yeah it's always the wee fellas who want to have a pop!

Used to head out on the lash sometimes in Newmarket in my younger years. Place was always full of 4'9" jockeys. Once they've got a couple of pints in them they think they're 7'2". Jockey slapping....happy days....

Im am average toned 6 foot guy and Ive been started on a few occasions. Ive never been punched, often just keeping my cool. One time when walking through a park with a few mates these chavs started throwing glass bottles trying to be hard. I shouted a few expletives back but carried on walking. Next thing I know is this guy came up behind me and is pushing me. He pushed me three times winding me up and then I snapped when he kicked my bike wheel. I dropped the bike and spun around so fast I just swung and punched him in the side of the head, just catching his temple and ear sending him down. Up comes his mate running at me so I just bent over covering my head and he went straight across me with too much momentum.

They then got up and walked away, while I stood there shaking. In the midst of this my 'mates' (4 of them, about 4 chavs) just stood there, their excuse were they were guarding the bikes! Thats as close to a fight as Ive had and it was over in 20 seconds. Id stick up for mates though, to the point of a fight but you never know what these idiots are going to be carrying in the back pocket.

Biggest guy or a bouncer, both seem to be a legitimate target for the human Jack Russels.

Actually hitting someone on the street must have been 20+ years ago and that was only in self defence. I found that sparring in a boxing gym as a teenager for a few years learnt me street fighting was for people with either no social skills, no concept of what harm they can cause or even worse people that fight to prove they are tough (usually against younger or smaller people).
i have come across quite a few who will fight at the drop of a hat who think it is cool, unfortunately there are some who agree with them these tend to be total idiots as well.
I think the only time i have ever watched a street fight and actually enjoyed it was on a night out in blackpool, 3 big brutes where giving 1 man and his wife lots of verbals for no reason other than to try and start a fight. Eventually the guy did confront them after one actually tried to touch his wife, I doubt they even knew what happened next as it was so quick he put all three on the deck 2 of them actually sparked cold. I know i shouldn't have enjoyed but it is good to see bullys get there just rewards.

Punching/getting punched is a weekly occurance during training but I suppose that's different.

Last time I was in a street fight was perhaps six months ago or so, I didnt throw a punch as I really dislike striking untrained people, but I did finish the fight/scuffle with a triangle choke.

Group 2 here, can't remember the last time I was involved in a fight, at least 20 odd years ago.

Funny story from today actually involving 'a fight'. Our office looks onto a busy main road, there are some traffic lights towards the end of the building. White van man driving along in inside lane, car cuts in front of him at lights, wvm beeps horn, guy that cut in front gets out and punches the guy then drives off. Pretty unremarkable story. But guy in our office saw the whole thing, occupants of police van driving on other side of the road saw the whole thing, off duty policeman approaching the lights saw the whole thing and got the guys registration mark. I'd say he's banged to rights.

Last fight I had was back in the early 90's. Ended up in the nick after that. The police doctor came along in the early hours of the morning to see why I was covered in blood and noticed my bleeding lip. So two coppers escorted me to the hospital for some stitches which the nurse put in - without any anethsetic.

When I went to work on the Monday I told my boss the stitches were due to being hit with a squash racket in a game.

Id be worried now of loosing my temper and doing some serious damage.
