Just been told that the company I work for is being wound up tomorrow with everybody being made redundant. Only started at the end of May after a pretty stressful 10 months being unemployed.

The previous job lasted 18 months before I got made redundant along with all the other non technical staff because the company got acquired. Dumped me straight into the recession and therefore the 10 months off.

The job before that lasted 12 months before that company was wound up, and I had been made redundant from the one before that due to issues with the American parent.

So this is my 4th redundancy in 4 years.

I'll have to shrug it off but it's enough to get a bloke down. Can't even use the time to do lots of riding because its the middle of winter.

**** !!!!! @@@@@@ %%%%%%%

Happy **** Christmas

That's grim CM.

If you're interested in selling web-based learning platforms (LMS') and associated courses, bespoke development, then drop me an email (in profile). We're recruiting and I'm part of the selection team.

I guess you've been having to take whatever was going, rather than selecting the outfit you considered to be the most solvent/had the best working practice?

Hey, if you can help someone out, it's positive karma. Also, people on here tend to be generally nice chaps, so apart from the usual suspects, they are unlikely to be axe-murderers or psychos.

willard - sorry but your email address is not showing in your profile. You could either update your profile or send me a mail per my profile

I'm a bit paranoid about not putting my email in threads because of all sorts of nasty sniffer software out there

Thats shite news , my job is rumoured to be on a sticky wicket come March with a loss of contracts. I found this out yesterday and actually couldn't face getting on my bike today , but took the dog out for 2 1/2 hour walk along the beach .I'll be 40 next year and we have been through the threat of redundancy every year for the last 5 years . Time for a total career change me thinks.
Best of luck Cm and hope you find something more stable

Bad news Captain- hope you get a job soon, I'll be looking again come 17th of December.

Am I the only one who has private jones saying 'don't panic, don't panic Captain Mainwering' in my head.

j_me - definitely won't be moving but may need to spend more time working away from home. IIRC you were off riding for a while? - hope you are recovering OK

lobby_dosser - no you are not the only one. MrsM has just returned home and she is currently doing an excellent Corporal Jones impersonation

That's a bugger but fantastic that STW already has ideas and leads - good going everyone 😀 Hang on in there - you know what to do! The small company I work for is about to impose reduced hours on everyone, things are looking tough across our sector for the forseeable future so am making plans now....

As Corpral Jones said a few times to Captain Mainwaring, DONT PANIC.

Cameroooooon says there are plenty of jobs out there in the private sector.
