Since there seems to be so many dog lovers on here, it would be good to see a list of your favourite breeds. So...

1. What breeds have you had/do you have?

2. What breed would you love to have if practicality was not an issue?

3. What breed would you have considering where you live. etc., etc.?

Heinz 57s absolutely count, but please don't preach about whether or not you agree with selective breeding. And no arguing with other people's choices.

And include pics, if possible.

Mine?

1. Rough Collie (x2)

2. Norwegian Elkhound

3. West Highland White

Pics not possible.

I would love to have a couple of Labradors, black or chocolate. We can't though as we are out of the house too long during the day.

Border Terrier.

I can't win though so we will end up with another Lab I reckon but that's a good compromise in my book.

Lurchers make fantastaic pets, gentle, quiet and dont need huge amounts of excersize.

Always wanted a Huntaway but they are kind of the opposite of a lurcher, my dad had one when he was farming in NZ

1) Golden retriever, German Shepherd Cross (with what I have no idea probably some lab) and about to inherit a golden lab

2) Great Dane (but without food and vet bills), Greyhound/lurcher, German Shepherd, anything that compares in temperament to our (departed) GR or GSX.

3) As 2 (but not the Great Dane).

Favourite breed? hmmm....

I must admit I'd like a Rottweiler - even though they get a bad press which is a shame.

Q3 as Q1.

Has to be a sighthound of some description, lurcher, longdog or pure breed. I absolutely must have a deer or wolfhound at some point.

We've got a (six month old) chocolate lab, he's great with the kids, and although ruled entirely by his stomach (typical lab), we love him to bits. I'd originally wanted a newfoundland, but size and expense ruled this out.
