My guitar god of the moment :roll
Agree with ton - Hendrix ... rip

As a counter to previous GnR tracks, I think 'Welcome to the jungle' is a good un

Oooh, this takes me back!
Hendrix was way ahead of the game, he can be credited with THE interpetation/vision of, at that time, a much over done pychedelic anthem, Hey Joe. It blew everyone else away. At that time, all the west coast bands had their version of Hey Joe, which was what they all did at the same fast beat. He slowed it down and it was never done again after that, he owned it.

Standells

I'm not saying it is the best but I love War Pigs by Black Sabbath. That is a real fave, as is Voodoo Chile by Hendrix and an awful lot by Prince but not too sure you would call him Rock, e.g Sign of the Times?
Sky Babies by the Wildhearts. 8)
But if it has to be something anyone else has heard of, then Don't Stop Believing by Journey.
not 'rock' in the sense of the above, but this one gets me every time:
see, while "don't stop believing" is great, it's a lazy suggestion as it's simply their most well-known song. it's not their best, or most anthemic- that would be either of these two:
[url=
ways (worlds apart)
[url=
way you want it
Theres alot of good Led Zep songs, I think Stairway to Heaven is the most over rated.
A couple of others (not really rock anthems but pretty 'epic' all the same)
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird and Neil Young - Cowgirl in the sand
now as much as I like 'anyway you want it' and 'seperate ways' they are in turn lazy choices too
for me it Augeri era Journey with the song above awesome and anthemic
or this by Mew
My fave if there's others around; someday this will be the first song played at my wedding...
Though personal favourite is 'New Millenium Cyanide Christ' by the titanic Meshuggah.
From the [url=
rock guitar album of all time
Another [url=
from Mr Young
BeerBelly, good shout with Greenday...had that played at my wedding and it was a great floor-filler!
Rock anthems? So many to shoose from but [url=
- Spirit of the Radio, [url=
Maiden - 2 minutes to midnight and Sick of it All - Step Down are current faves!
Please put the name of the song and not just the youtube link...use the URL button in the post box 😉

King Crimson - Starless (or Epitaph)
[url=
Floyd - Sorrow
[url=
- Stargazer
Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
[url=
subtle at all, but I love it! *NSFW*
Anthems?
Well, apart from Anthem, by Rush, it needs to be one of the following
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynrd
November Rain - Guns
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf (Not to my taste, but anthemic)
One - Metallica
The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg - Iron Maiden
The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden (Like prog, mixed with Coleridge. Epic!)
Bohemian Rapsody - Queen
In fact, I could find a lot in my collection, but I'm now drunk, so may go to bed!

played full blastt every friday morning while I was flatting by the first person to get out of bed. A great way to start the weekend.NSFW
Plenty of good ones above. I'd go with The Ace of spades by motorhead though. Or possibly we will rock you by Queen.
Master of Puppets - love it
samuri - esp live killers version of we will rock you
Aye, I've got that one somewhere, time to dig it out I think.
My coat, why thank you sir...
slimtubing, not sure if i'd say 'sober' was an anthem but that's certainly one of the greatest music videos ever produced.
[url=
- we will rock you (fast - live killers)
The Last Baron - Mastodon
For ****'s Sake - The Almighty
Birth To The Earth - The Atomic Bitchwax
Spacelord - Monster Magnet
Lucifer Rising - Candlemass
Time of the Goblins - Wall Of Sleep
Escape Pod - White Witch Canyon
I Love The Lamp - The Lamp Of Thoth
Not strictly rock, more metal, but I love it!!! 😈
As the OP asked for ANTHEMS, I would have to say that a great deal of the suggestions are not anthemic.
But I would have to suggest AC/DCs Let There Be Rock.
This would have to be mine...
[url=
CR - Fortunate Son
Ooh, too many to choose from, but how about:
Therapy? - Screamager
System of a Down - Sugar
Alkaline Trio - Private Eye
Anthrax - Only
Faith No More - Epic
Rammstein - Sonne
Skunk Anansie - Weak
Machine Head - Davidian
Sepultura - Slave New World
The Doors - Riders on the Storm
Steppenwolf - Born to be Wild
The Cult - Peace Dog
My Generation - The Who
not one mention of [url=
Zep - Kashmir
acknowledged by the band in question as their finest track ever.
Skunk Anansie - Weak is a classic.
Back to the poodle-permed days of yore: [url=
- Love Walked In
An unfortunate choice perhaps, but a favourite of mine.
goes on a bit, but its well worth it just gets better and better
Phantom of the opera-Iron Maiden (or the Daley Thompson Lucozade advert for us oldies)
Fuel- Metallica
Let there be rock
Walk this way - Aerosmith
Born in the USA - Springsteen
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream
Ziggy Stardust - Bowie
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Layla - Derek & the Dominoes
Money for Nothing - Dire - Straits
All Right Now - Free
Bad to the Bone - George Thorogood
Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh
Black Dog - Led Zep
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Bat Out of Hell - Meatloaf
Purple Rain -Prince
We Will Rock You - Queen
Start Me Up - Stones
Not necessarily my favorite songs/artists, but all fine 'anthemic' numbers
