Looking to head over for some relaxation and luxury at the start of half term with my wife and 6 year old. We love mountains, walking and the beach and forests.

Anyone got any good recommendations?

Wouldn't have thought you'd do much better than The Hotel Portmeirion for a location.

And you could re-enact your* favourite scenes from The Prisoner while you're there.

Not a hotel, but I've wanted for a long time to stay here- Campbell's Cottage, sounds lovely, but the private railway platform is the icing on the cake. ๐Ÿ™‚

+1 on Portmerion.

Plsu as a hotel guest, you get the run of the place after all the tourists have gone home - the estuary is stunning, there's great walks straight out the front door and the food's nice too.

have a soft spot for Portmeirion, if you were to take the bike and get up very early and go up the road behind the hotel you could get in a short but spectacularly varied route via the Japanese garden, the dog cemetery, the ghost garden, the rockery and then back along the coast edge (*some carrying reqd).

also go to Barmouth, take bikes and do http://www.cyclingnorthwales.co.uk/pages/maw_c_ph.htm
(*or do train along the coast)
