Inspired by a post on Facebook...

For the last nearly twenty years, I've lived pretty close to the Prescott Hill Climb, and the May Day madness that is cheese-rolling occurs even closer than that.

Despite my best vague intentions, I've never been to either 😕

I grew up in Wigan. I never went to Wigan Pier - neither the nightclub, nor the museum experience. Both now closed

Went to Isle of Weight once as a kid. Never returned.
Durdle Door - only went once I knew I was moving away from South Coast.

Last week I took my ****stan agent and his wife to Beeston Castle in Cheshire, then on to Port Sunlight and the Lady Lever art gallery. All three were absolutely amazing, we had a thoroughly enjoyable day out. Never been to any of them before despite living in the NW for 28 years.

If I'd have grown up in Wigan, I'd have stayed safely indoors too 😉

Also, despite living in Cheltenham, with a sister (then) living in Ascot, and a (then) girlfriend living in Newmarket, it took me an awfully long time to get round to going to a horse race.

For 13 years I lived 15 miles from Swinley and never bothered to go.
I also lived close the Surrey hills and didn't bother with that either 🙂

Until last year I'd never been to Kilnsey Show. Much better than The Great(?) Yorkshire show.

Never been to Skipton Sheep Day - I grew up on a farm where we had several hundred of the blighters.

Bronte Parsonage/museum is another.

The Boat Race - it would take less than 15 minutes to walk down to the finish line. I ride down there. I still can't get myself organised and motivated at the same time.

Royal Research Ship Discovery in Dundee, along with its visitor centre- never been, and it's about 100m from the office.
'Let's celebrate a glorious failure.'
It's all very well doing a bunch of stupid stuff, make loads of daft mistakes and get yourself killed... Pity he managed to get his team killed as well.
For me, the best bit about the whole story of Scott and the Antarctic is the ingenuity of the whaling ship captains who headed south to rescue him from his first disastrous expedition.

Once the V&A museum opens next year, I will definitely be going there.

World Rugby Museum, Twickenham.
Live in TW2, have been to games, the shop, the Tesco round the corner but never the Museum.

The list of things that I haven't done in London is quite long too...

So you've only been to 24 games this season then 😉

Well done on missing the 9 where they lost though, impressive.

The Balloon Fiesta. Just not interested.

Possibly forty years or so too late to really enjoy it, I used to go when it first started, at six in the morning there would be the balloon crews setting up and a few people walking their dogs in the park, plus a few like me, interested in the balloons, and taking photos of brightly coloured large objects against clear blue skies, with hardly anyone about.
You could talk to the crews, even help them set up the balloons, I got a tethered flight in one, called Chic-I-Boom, styled after the head of Carmen Miranda, after fog prevented them flying, I even got the glass of champagne for taking a flight!
It's all very different now, totally fenced off, music, fairgrounds and sideshows, just very corporate, sadly.

[img] [/img]

She was the first special-shape balloon to fly at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, built in 1982 by Cameron Balloons in Bristol, and retired in 1996. She's now in a museum in the States.
The 'bananas' are 50' long, to give an idea of scale. I've got an enamel pin badge somewhere that they gave me as a souvenir.

For the past 18 years I've worked within a ten minute walk to St Paul's Cathedral, I walk and cycle by most days but I've never been inside.

Because you've tried Henderson's Relish, right? Right?

For me, it's the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Comes round every year, I just can't seem to muster enough enthusiasm to go have a look.

Up until 3 weeks ago id never been over the Forth Bridge as can't be arsed with the train, done it now but wasn't much to it although it must be the UK number one sculpture, doesn't matter what time of the year or day it always looks great and i don't think it's ever been copied

Never ridden up the Tumble, despite riding to the top of the Tumble offroad about 100 times.

Never been to the Builth Ram sales despite always needing to buy rams at that time of year

Same here with StPauls (I'm outside it now on a bus). Been a Londoner for over 20 years and still not been inside. I did intend to go but when I got there they wanted £16 to get in so I went to the nearest Wetherspoons instead.

Not been to Notting hill carnival either, couldn't think of anything worse to do at a weekend.
