Hi all,
I am taking the family up to the North Yorks Moors on Wednesday 12th Aug for a week and am looking for recommendations for a day family ride. My boys are 6yrs and 7yrs and can ride approx 15miles. Ideally looking for disused railways and/or woodland singletrack?

I'm also looking for a recommendation for me for a 1-1 1/2 hr singletrack ride from our accommodation in Stillington.

As always any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Geordynige

Yearsley woods has some good off-piste singletrack although may be a bit too technical for the kids...

There looked to be plenty of traffic in Stillington woods last weekend, though only two trails on trail forks. Pedal North had a route from "osmotherley-introduction" which should make a nice ride. If it appears to suggest you go through a gate with words to the effect oi ger orf my laaand painted on it, the bridalway gate is about 10 yards down the hill, just over the cattle grid and joins the track beyond the aforementioned gate.

What about the old railway circuit round Rosedale? It’s about 25mile from Stillington. Lovely ride on a nice day and just the odd technical bit at the north end.

Take the kids for a ride round castle Howard bridleways, not to far from stillington. As for technical single-track for yourself head up to yearsley woods, plenty of trails there on trailforks

Rosedale railway would be perfect if you're driving. I'm pretty sure the track has been redone at the North end quite recently, though I've not been up there for a while to check.

Take a look at Sutton bank bikes. Also Dalby Forest, lots for kids to do there. Could try the Yearsley side of Ampleforth forest. Grew up in the area but been away 30+ years.
