Rather than eating at an Unlucky Fried Kitten or a Little Thief etc.
Does anyone know of any where pleasant to stop for a lunch break with the family not too far off the main road?
Huntingdon/St Ives sort of area

TIA

Take a packed lunch, find a quiet spot, job done! 🙂

We've been known to get the stoves out (Off the motorbikes) at services and cook in the picnic area..... 🙂

How much are you willing to spend?

There are a couple of good places to eat in Godmanchester (White Hert, The Exhibition*) that are worth a look, but I am not sure what their lunch food is like. Both should be easy to get to though, just come off either road at Huntingdon and head round the ring road and over the bridge to GMC. You could also try the Back Bull (also GMC), but it's not up to the other two.

Or, you could go north to Abbots Ripton. Maybe a shade further out of your way, but the pub there is supposed to be quite good.

* - The Exhibition would be my choice of the two.

Go on a bit further to the B1049 junction, take a left into Histon - up the lights opposite the Rose & crown take a left again, follow the road round till you see the Red Lion up on your left, car parking at rear, great beers and decent enough pub grub for a reasonable price.

No more than 5-9 mins from the A14 and worth a visit I'd say.
