Yeah, take a caravan 🙂

I dunno - dress warmly and have a warm sleeping bag? It can get pretty damp even when it's not raining. Choose your site carefully as many can be boggy and muddy.

why not hedge your bets

wigwam (see ebay), or http://www.wigwamholidays.com/

Sadly I won't be able to report till after next week, but the wigwam decison was based on - more space, heater, ability to maybe dry clothes (as biking), bit more space, cost, area, less luggage in car, and the fact I've already been to Scotland in monsoon May....

Done it lots.
Tent + Electric hook up + Fan Heater makes for happy kids and wife.
Rig up tarp or make sure tent has dry area you can walk in to then remove shoes. Wellies + Umbrellas are good
Tents with 2 or more entrances good as you don't turn the entrance into a muddy patch or use a simple duck board type/shower mat thing to not chew up the ground.
Had some great off peak holidays camping.

Oh and make sure you can dry the tent when you get home!

Night time is the worst part for feeling cold. During the day you move around and can easily add/remove layers to regulate body temperature.

Decent sleeping bags are a must. Only had a two season bag last weekend at SSUK and even with copious amounts of beer I felt a tad chilly. Bring belts/ties of some sort for the kids sleeping bags and tie them off just below their feet, making a shorter bag for their body heat to warm up.

Going this weekend 😆

Heating is the key! (and a good site with things for kids to do if it is raining!)
