Fake shimano chains

Cheers for the heads up fella. I only use KMC chains but whatever you’re buying the take away phrase from that is surely ‘if it seems too good to be true…..’

That applies to pretty much everything I suppose, but I wonder how many dodgy places are selling the fake stuff at compatible prices to the original and passing it off as the real thing?

There are fake KMC and SRAM. I tend to only buy from known bike shops on-line or Decathlon. Never via ebay or Amazon.

Just a heads up - the box that comes with the fakes now has the "two tone" logo (ie silver and white) on it (and even a little sticker saying "authentic" stuck on it.

The text on the back is still wrong as noted on the video above, and the barcodes are still printed on, not a sticker.

The split link in still in the same packet as the chain (shouldn't be), there's no chamfering on the insides of the links and they are f-king awful quality. Ask me how I know 🙁

Got sent one recently by an ebay seller. Ebay awere totally useless. Lesson learnt.

I can remember the time Shimano brought out a new range of chains, I think it might have been when cassettes went from 8 to 10 or 11-speed, or something like that, and the chains were made from tinfoil, they would snap at the slightest hint of pressure on the pedals, which I discovered the hard way. The dealer replaced it without question, gave me a SRAM one which lasted years.
