if you are chatting online on facebook could you block somebody who is on your friends list from joining in the conversation.

If you mean the chat in the bottom right corner then yes, you can put people in different lists, just drag their name into the next list, then only show you are online to certain people, if you like.
If you mean just on your wall, dont think so, but you can delete their comments.
