2008 he broke his right leg from crashing his mountain bike into a car. I believe his performance dipped from that too.

In 2008 he's also claiming he broke his shoulder at the same time as his leg but never told anyone.

I can't see his relationship with Horner/Red Bull improving after these revelations that he apparently kept secret.

This was the very first ride since the leg breaker! Ironic that my favourite driver missed the WDC due to taking part in my fave leisure activity!

Seems Christian Horner isn't too happy about not being told of this!...

I'm not bloody surprised.

Do you think Ferguson lets his key players participate in any other sport that may affect their 'job'? It'll be written into their contracts for very good reason.

If a RAF pilot hurt him/herself reoccurringly in the sameway they would face a possible court martial?

You'd think Webber should take a sabbatical from mountain biking- just until hes passed his peak/window within F1

Pook if we banned you from falling off the back of a carpark wheelie you'd go on strike and refuse! ๐Ÿ˜†

I have the injury at the moment and was told to keep it a sling for two weeks and not drive especially any F1 cars ๐Ÿ˜€

Horner should shut it - he got what he wanted all along, ie SV WDC.

I actually feel a bit better about how 2010 turned out now - Webber had SV equalled, but then tailed off at the critical time. And now we know why. I thought he just bottled it, but I was doing him a disservice.

Amazing that he walked away from the Valencia flip, and then picked up a fracture on a push bike.

I know this has been going on for a while but this announcement has upped the stakes for F1 sillyness - looks like there will be two Lotus Renault teams next year, both in black and gold livery!!

Nah, Uncle Bernie will make sure that whoever's bringing the most money into the sport gets to run in black/gold...

(so that won't be tony fernandes' outfit then unfortunately)

Or at least, he'll make sure that there's only one Lotus I reckon.

F1 drivers are super fit and they need to be in order to drive the cars.

Any Sport can be dangerous and lead to injury. Jenson does Triathlons, many other drivers are also cyclists or runners.

You can't stop them doing other sports.

Why would Bernie stop there being to Lotus teams?
He didn't stop Red Bull having two teams.

Is that a real livery or a mock up by Autosport? It's very pretty.

Perhaps Webber needs an MTB skills course ๐Ÿ™‚

MW needs to get some wider bars. Obviously why he keeps crashing!

...possibly lose those bar ends too.

If he had that shoulder injury then it definitely affected his driving especially with the physicality of F1.

I'd be concerned that he threw away his one shot of being a champion because of the accident.

Could be some excellent photo-shop work, but its an official Renault photo. Tis on the Renault F1 site.

Do you think Bjarne Riis lets his Team Saxo-Bank riders take part in other dangerous sports?

Actually yes - they were having a day trying out kitesurfing and windsurfing at the centre I was using last week (whilst I was out hanging onto my sail and jumping off waves!)

Why would Bernie stop there being to Lotus teams?

Because they're completely separate and with the same/similar livery it'd just make F1 look a bit silly. Red Bull/Torro Rosso is different because first, they are the same company and second the liveries are sufficiently different IMO.

"i was rubbish because of a shoulder injury"

where are the x rays or other proof, anyone can say they fell off their bicycle or is it just a feeble excuse?
