An interesting article in Evo this month about how all but 2 teams rely upon UK technology & that at a component level, 80% of the grid is based here in the UK.
Worth some £8 billion, employing 40,000 people, mostly in the Northampton - Oxfordshire corridor.
With every non-Ferrari or Sauber win, they should play the National Anthem.
great, lets have a procession
oh, we do.
where were the brakes and spark plugs on Vettel's car made?
YAWN !!
I think there are quite a few Brits employed by Ferrari as well
AP Racing brakes.
Goodridge and Earls for hydralics and hoses.
Do you need the addresses?
rob smedley is a ferrari race engineer, and ALL the tyres are made in japan, so that probably boosts the not-made-in-uk components to a bit more than 20%! sorry to get all geeky...
It's nice that Evo have cottoned on to something which has been known for decades (did my dissertation on Motorsport Valley).

48 tyres on the grid - you think this makes a significant contribution to the 20% of components?
48 tyres on the grid
Only 2 tyres on each car? 😯
But yes the corridors along the A34, A43 and M40 are, and have been for a very long time, the foundation for most of the worlds motorsport teams and technology!
I found it somewhat puzzling that the Mercedes team is being referred too as the 'German National Team' when the cars are built here
Mind you, its pretty also ironic that they represent about the only two cars that this country manufactured for export this year. I wonder who's laughing 🙁
Think you'll find Earls are a US company.
...and our Government is one of only two that won't dib-in to help support this industry.
It is pretty amazing that at the pinnicle of the motor industry the UK is, effectively, the only place to be.
