What happens to the points and things here?

Russell normally drives for Williams, accruing (presumably) points for himself in the Driver Champs and points for Williams in the Constructors.

He's now been seconded to Merc, fair enough - does he still get Championship points and what about Constructors? Also, given the level of secrecy around car tech, what happens with a driver swapping between teams and potentially taking tech info between teams?

I genuinely don’t know who I want to win out of these two.

Constructors points for the team you're driving for, championship points for yourself.

I'd quite like to see Checo win.

@crazy-legs. No, he gets his points and Williams get nothing (for his race anyway). His points are Merc’s

Pleased for Perez. Assuming he doesn’t somehow get 2020’d.

Might still scrape 10th (edit, he’s done it)

Obvs I wish the best for Lewis, but hope George gets another crack next week.

Terrible luck though, but he’s shown a very good account of himself, basically outdriving Bottas.

Absolutely gutted for Russel. He was homing in on Perez nicely there!

Bloody crofty as well! Led me on right Merry little emotional rollercoaster.. gutted when I thought it was Russell, then relieved when it was Bottas and then gutted all over again.

That was an entertaining race!
9th for Russell and fastest lap so he gets 3 points. 🙂

And great for Perez. From last place on the grid to winning!

Wasn’t last on the grid, he collided with Leclerc on lap 1, Putting him to the back

Fantastically happy for Perez, so gutted for Russell. But he has certainly laid down the maker everyone knew he carried.
And Bottas got his 2nd place.
The race dynamic would have been so different if Max hadn't driven himself off the track.
Time for lots of Horner excuses for hime.

Gutted for Russell but he destroyed Bottas to be fair. Bottas is the epitome of a no. 2 driver imo.

Still, what a podium line up though. Super stuff:)

D'you think Meec will keep George in the car even if Lewis is better..?

Edit - by "better", I mean "recovered".

Made me laugh that Verstappen complained the other drivers were too aggressive and reckless.

I wonder who does Max’s ironing...

I still want to see more Horner sulky face but in the meantime can F1 work on getting these sounds from the cars next year?

Looks like George will be disqualified, using 14 different sets of tyres over the weekend (he did a lap with valteri’s fronts) limit is 13.

No points for him.

I really don't understand how the driver can be punished for that, it's the teams fault surely and they that should take the punishment/fine/points docked.

Because the driver could get an advantage by doing it on the sly. Rules have to be applied in all situations, sadly

Agree. It’s hardly the driver selecting the tyres! Absolutely gutted for Russell.

An awful day for him in isolation, a brilliant day for him for the bigger picture.

Seems up for debate what the punishment will be now, either DQ or a fine.

What happened to Bahrain always being boring?

Really pleased for Checo, really deserved it for all the times he's stood by Racing Point over the years and even sweeter that they've dropped him for next year. Gutted for Russell but he's absolutely wiped the floor with Bottas all race, surely that sends a massive signal about his potential. Hopefully he'll get a race next weekend and try and do it again.

Hard to see how Red Bull can keep Albon after that. Same with Merc - hard to see why they would keep Bottas in 2022.

Christ almighty, I nearly threw my iPad at the wall at least twice!

That was a class act from Russell, proper class. Perfect start, and faultlessly driven both in open air and wheel-to-wheel. And he put Bottas on the ropes about as well as Hamilton does: two good passes and better pace throughout. I hope we get to see Russell and Hamilton in the same car in 2022.

Great to see Checo take the win, though. And while I’m a big fan of Albon’s dogfighting (perhaps less in evidence lately than in the first half of his time in the RB), I think Red Bull would be mad not to take the opportunity to sign Perez. Fingers crossed.

Just remembered that Perez was instrumental in saving Force India from administration. I hope that Racing Point and Stroll go backwards next year without his contribution. A bit mean perhaps, but 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, they’ve got Vettel next year, so it’s a fair bet that one of them will be pointing backwards before too long 😉

Verstappen didn't spot that the runoff was tarmac then gravel did he? Won't admit that but you can tell by the way he tried to accelerate then jumped on the brakes when he realised he'd cocked up.

Just remembered that Perez was instrumental in saving Force India from administration. I hope that Racing Point and Stroll go backwards next year without his contribution.

With Vettel and Stroll behind the wheels they are guaranteed to take a step back, add in that they can't just photocopy the Merc and you have a poor situation for them.

I have been cheering for Checo all year, really wanted to see him win a race, and as soon as he is in a position to do so I found myself wanting him to be overtaken!
.
Really chuffed for him though, I really hope he does make it ack into F1 and wins again but if he doesn't at least he can retire with a feeling of job done.
My prediction is that Vettel will be a bit rubbish next year, Stroll will be beating him, probably not by as much as LeClerc is, he will call it a day two thirds of the way through the season and Checo will be back at AM. Assuming RP don't give him the drive.
I can see why AM have kept Stroll, but why pick Vettel over Checo? More expensive and not as good, madness.

I think it demonstrates some of the problems with F1, Checo out and daddy’s boy stays. Hope RB take him, Albion isn’t good enough IMO
