Hammy emulating John Surtees?
Nope, it'll be another limited edition MV Agusta like the last one

More elements, yay! 👿
It is at least the best Tilke track this weekend, so might be interesting.
With you there aracer - it's slowly creeping back to '07/08 levels of silliness. Remember how clean and pure the 09 cars looked in comparison?
These are really worth a watch if you're interested in aero...

Oh well, never mind ....
Fp2 red flagged after drain cover was flipped up and hits romain grosjean's haas, puncturing the rear tyre and damaging the bodywork
Apols for the express link but it's the only one I could find with the vid
better vid with onboard
He doesn't get a lot of luck that fella, hey? 🙂

If he didn't have bad luck he'd have none.
Ooft. Makes a change from complaining about his brakes at least.
great lap from lewis, i get the the feeling they may have been [s]sandbagging[/s] going easy on the power unit a bit in practise wary of what happened to lewis last year.
How come vettel was allowed to start from the back of the grid, even though he didn't take part in qualifying?
I thought he'd have to start from the pit lane?
Not a hater, just an honest question

Not 100% sure in this case, but it's not unusual.
Anyway - when was the last Honda engine failure? They don't seem to have been blowing up lately! Would be typical if McLaren dumped them when they come good.
Ooooh we have a race on! But when will Verstappens car break!?
😀 at max
"That's how to do it"
good move(s) from ric 🙂
what we need now is a drop of rain 😀

...that would do nicely!
Shaping up for a good finish.

You start from the pit lane a) if you don't make it to the grid or b) if you make changes to the car under parc ferme conditions.
If you just don't qualify then you take last place on the grid assuming no one else has a ton of penalties.
Congrats to Max, but what a drive from Vettel!
Also, Hamilton extracting SUBSTANTIALLY more from the car than Bottas.
Also shows you that a reverse grid CAN work!
That's quite a a lot of damage to Vettel's car from a low speed impact AFTER the race has finished...

On some circuits maybe - considerably easier to overtake at Malaysia than many of the tracks.
Can't wait to see replay of Vettel/Stroll collision AFTER the race finish! 😆
So that should be reprimand for hitching a ride, maybe for taking the steering wheel, not to mention the incident itself...

after the finish
Vettel doesn't exactly look blameless to me. Hard to believe, I know.
Just WOW @ Vettel
I like how a rejuvenated red bull is only bad for mercedes (according to c4 commentators). 😆 🙄
Interesting comment from Lewis in the cool down room to Max.
Said he could have closed the door on him but decided discretion was in order. Seems to be a different mindset from the Lewis of old and certainly different to Seb.
Good race all in all. Would love to see some outside shots of the incident. Blimey - never seen anything like that before!
hmmmm interesting
It is Webber's third reprimand in 2013, triggering an automatic grid penalty. The rules say three reprimands in one season will trigger a 10-place grid penalty if two of them were imposed for "driving infringements".
heres one
was he reprimanded ramming hamilton in Baku ?
He got penalty points for ramming Hamilton - system is different now, penalty points over rolling 12 month period, even if he got penalty points for that he still wouldn't have enough to trigger a ban, I think he's also due to lose some soon anyway (didn't he get some for a collision in Malaysia last year?)
Not that I think he will get any for the ride - unlike Webber he didn't appear to be told not to do it.
Both were to blame in my opinion.
Seb seems to think he knows exactly what other drivers are going to do in slow speed situations and keeps zooming into them. Strol was picking up rubber on his tyres (as they all do after the race) but decided to do this on a corner by going pretty much straight on. I imagine that he just didn't imagine someone overtaking on the return lap.
fastest lap times makes interesting reading considering lewis would have done those on the slower compound Vettel on the fastest. Makes me think they rather not push the engines at this stage of the season anymore than they have too.

Why do they pick up rubber?
also i wonder if there was another issue with vettels car

To make sure they come in above the minimum weight limit after the race.
had to save fuel at the end too?
those that started on the softer tyre pitted at half race distance, so vettel shouldn't have had a problem.
also did bottas have issues too ? that's way down for the merc

I think they do, but I suspect he also backed off in the last couple of laps when he wasn't really racing for anything.
Bottas was running Mercedes new aero package I believe, while Hamilton had decided it didn’t work and gone back to the old one.

I don't think the aero package would be the reason the merc would be 3rd bottom in the speed trap. My guess is most the teams have a pool of 4 shagged engines and are desperately trying to hold out till their rivals blink first so they can blink too. It was lucky for ferrari that they had nothing to lose when the engine blew but I don't think letting vettel rag the **** out of it in that heat was perhaps the best play. lap times from both qualifying and in the race suggest Lewis could run much faster if he really needed to the team just didn't want him too and were quite happy with the finishing positions
Brundle and DiResta think that unless he is very lucky Vettel will need a new gearbox for the next race - and the 5 place grid penalty that goes with it. They couldn't see how - with the amount of damage there was - that the driveshaft wasn't pulled out of the gearbox.
Kimi must be gutted. First, he has to lend Seb his car for the race, then the ungrateful little twerp breaks it on the cool-down lap. 😉
