Nerfed the back of Hamilton thinking he'd accelerated when he hadn't, then drove into the side of him because he was frustrated he'd hit him. What's German for petulant?

I don't think a 10 sec penalty was enough for that

deliberately ramming another car under the safety car = 10 sec stop and go. Only for ferrari

also why wasn't Raikkonen not black flagged earlier clear shots of him dragging barge boards and shedding carbon around the track.

Because Ferrari are made in Hebden Bridge [/tinfoilhat]

yes but sport is only valid with a level playing field. Lance was fab to watch but how do you feel now ? It was also "funny" that it was announced after lewis had to stop for a new cockpit surround.

Ferrari International Assistance strikes again.

Though it was dangerous. Just comical timing in the context of the 10s penalty

instantly thrown out of any pro cycling race for similar behavior.

IMHO Vettel deserved a black flag today and a one race ban.

And FIA say data from Ham's car show he didn't brake test...did exactly as he had done previously. So Vettel is a knob.

I don't know if the "authorities" can implement further sanctions, but I think he should lose his points from this race. It was a childish road-rage move that sets such a bad example.

Although Hamilton did say he had slowed at that point and Vettel should have expected it.
Tensions running high.

I suppose it would have been if Hamilton's headrest hadn't come loose

Not the same as braking...and he'd done exactly the same thing at previous restart. Data also shows that Vettel did deliberately turn in (despite Coulthard trying to claim it was just a result of his handwaving)

The wife, who never usually watches this stuff, happened to catch it when it happened and couldn't believe the lack of criticism from the commentators shes was genuinely shocked.

I don't think we need the data to see that 😆

...couldn't believe the lack of criticism from the commentators...

You must have been watching C4 then, as Brundle on Sky was very vocal about that.

To the point where he made the comparison with Vettel and Maldonado; which will smart if Vettel hears it.

Can they give him a further penalty after the race? Or is the penalty in the race considered final?

Sainz had a grid place penalty from Canada for admittedly a big accident, but it wasn't a malicious move like Vettels.

Anyway cracking race - real shame that a basic thing like a headrest cost Lewis so badly.

Great race that 😀

As for Vettel, he should get a proper bollocking for that stunt! 1 race ban, not a 10 sec stop and go with 3 points on his license. Merc/Hamilton should appeal that decision.

To be fair, Vettel shouldn't have done that but it didn't affect anyone else's race (though it could have done).

vettel would have to have a "little chat" in the back of a panda for that,

"i didn't do anything",

"well sir....lets just look at this video i took"

I heard Hamilton is part of one of those insurance scam gangs. He'll be claiming against Vettel for whiplash next (when we all know he wasn't using his safety equipment properly.

Do I need a wink?

Just watched this on catch up.

I'm staggered about Vettels penalty. He deliberately DROVE INTO another car!

It does not get any worse. A Ten second stop go is a total joke. He ran into the back of someone, and then deliberatly hit them.

Cant ever remember seeing anything as bad as that in 30 years of watching F1.

what a drive by Bottas from the back and a lap down. All the way to the wire. Makes Hamilton's grasping at straws comment all the more irrelevant.

How about McHondas first points. Its been on the cards for a while and quite good despite a grid staring point of Monaco if you count back the number of places. Best race of the season so far.

Got to feel for Verstappen, Ice Man and Massa

Not quite the same, but...

The Renault Formula One crash controversy, dubbed Crashgate by some in the media, is a sporting scandal perpetrated by the Renault F1 team who ordered Nelson Piquet Jr. to crash deliberately during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, to gain a sporting advantage for his Renault team-mate Fernando Alonso.

"Cant ever remember seeing anything as bad as that in 30 years of watching F1."

see igm's post above and that white haired ****t hugging Alonso at the start.

What LH did or didn't do is irrelevant, Vettal side swiped him.
Should have been black flagged, straight to the naughty step, do not collect £200.

But hey he was in a red car, Mr Todd likes red cars.

...he screwed up - a massive apology needed.

"Deliberately driving into another driver and getting away pretty much scot-free as he still came fourth, I think that's a disgrace. I think he disgraced himself today," Hamilton said.

"Imagine all the young kids that are watching Formula 1 today and see that kind of behaviour from a four-time world champion. I think that says it all.

"If he wants to prove that he's a man, I think we should do it out of the car face-to-face."

Whatever you think of Hamilton, he has a point.

It sounds bad but I am not sure Hamilton quite meant that. Or he did but by doing so was highlighting the ridiculousness of vettel's "we are men" comment. Hamilton looked a bit uneasy after saying it, probably realising what he said and how it sounded. I am giving him the benefit of doubt anyway.

Whilst the last sentence is a silly thing to say, I think he was acting as if he was bringing it down to Vettel's level. Regardless, there's no excuse for Vettel's actions so let's not make Hamilton out to be the bad guy here.

Hamilton mostly talks in lifestyle guru spiel. I'd prefer it if he was offering people outside every week.

Maldonado definitely drove into someone on purpose. I think it was at Monaco...

Regarding the comment by Hamilton about dealing with it face to face; it was in response to Vettel's ridiculous comment about 'we are men and we deal with these things like men'...when in actual fact he had dealt with it like a petulant child by coming alongside and driving purposefully into him.

I didn't take Hamilton's comment to mean fisticuffs (although it would have been funny to have seen a repeat of the Coulthard/Schumacher agro after Schumi did similar in heavy rain and then blamed Coulthard).

Vettel gone another bitch down in my estimations after that.
Nice to see Alonso get some points and involved in some tussles. Best race I've watched in ages...

10 sec stop & go does seem ridiculously lenient for a deliberate side swipe. It shouldn't matter that Hamilton's car was unaffected, you just can't allow drivers to take that kind of action and get away with it (even if Hamilton had brake tested him, which he didn't). I'm not sure a race ban would be fair but he should have been black flagged in that race and be given a grid penalty in the next.

The incident isn't that much different to the Marquez v Rossi incident at Sepang, IMO, and we all how that panned out.

I don't understand why Coulthard was trying to pretend it might have been accidental, though?
