So i've had a cold since last tuesday, the usual hot swets and aches runny nose sore throat stuff, not taken a day off work but stopped exercise as felt too rough. went on the bike for a pootle today and felt ok even though not quite right and nose annoyingly running..

Planning on a swim tomorrow as feeling much better tonight but was wondering how much time people have off when they get colds?

what do the pro's do? what do you do?

You run a risk of making it worse / lasting longer, a slight risk of giving yourself post viral issues and a very slight risk of dropping down dead.,

Gently only IMO

Swimming might be rather antisocial from the point of view if infecting others as well

yea going for a 3hr ride on friday probably would have killed me, i actually feel better after my short gentle ride tonight though and nose has calmed down a bit this evening but if its running tomorrow your right its a bit antisocial to be in the pool with that.
any nutters exercise all the way through their cold?

Yup, echo what TJ says. Potential for viral badness like cardiomyopathy, drop down dead stuff.
Never do hard excersize while unwell.

Chest up? people say it's ok.

I normally wait as I have seen people workout and then they disappeared for 2 weeks sick for secondary infection.

Wait a few days to getting another infection for 2 weeks?

Up to you (I have a friend who swears by exercising-sweat it out...I prefer to use Curry as a way to sweat it out)

so glad I read this.
have had same symptoms for the last few days and had a gentle-ish ride out last night for 1 hour, but planned a 10k run for tonight due to half marathon training (7 weeks left).

Felt like I needed to man up and hit the 10k tonight depsite only feeling 70% fit, but sat it out just incase.
Thanks for confirming my suspicions that rest is best.
