Ideally I'd like to be able to click/hover on/over a row heading and a box to appear which shows the summary of data in that row.
I've been looking at grouping so I can collapse and expand to show a data breakdown that way but just wondering if able to do it as described above that gives only a high level summary of the data ie totals.

You can add formulas i.e. totals to comments, but it requires VBA knowledge so isn't that easy.
Can you not just have the summary calculations in cells at the top of the data?
