For some reason I can't use my Excel any more.

All I've done since I last used Excel was to delete an old printer.

I don't know where the "Microsoft Office 2000 Standard" disk is that it's telling me to use to load it up.

Any idea's how I can get it back without the disk?

have you tried Help>detect & repair?

You may be stuffed if it's looking for the disk, it might need to replace a dll or something.

Pennine

I thought that was it starting it in Safe Mode then detect and repair but it still asked for the disk.

Looks like a trip up into the loft tomorrow.

Thanks all

If you have a legal licence.. you could download a cd image from somewhere or off someone

depending on what you are trying to do though.. you could just ditch it and use Open Office or Libre Office .. both of which are free and will probably do anything you require .. you can download these right now off the web..

the only issue is if you are in a workplace and depend on saving in a Microsoft format .. which will probably still be fine.. but theres that incredibly small risk it might not be

hold on this is office 2000? 😯 .. what we saving this relic for? I'd imagine the latest Open Office or Libre Office would be a significant improvement

*awaits chronic flaming by various people who have only used Microsoft office* 😆

A very successful career as an analytical modeller with an interest in open source software.

No matter how many times I try and migrate to openoffice, it just isnt up to the job. Limited functions, poor integration, half arsed maths functions.

If youre the kind of person who wants to print out pretty coloured tables of meeting schedules then it's fine. If you want a tool to handle large volumes of complicated data and maths and be able to have clients utilise the models too...waste of time.

playing devils advocate

with an interest in open source software.

nothing stopping you adding the actual or perceived lack of functionality then

[color=blue]Another alternative if you're in rush - if you don't need hugely complex spreadsheet functions you could always upload to Google Docs and work on it there.
