just picked up the new (to us) works van, ex british gas ford transit connect.
it is restricted, very annoying, can this be taken off... easy or not so easy to do...???...
Neil.
Has the tracker been taken out too?
not sure... will check the fuse box, (ie the additional fuse for the tracker) or how do I check for that...
why would that matter... ??... would the BG fleet controller get text / email alerts when it starts breaking the law?
Should be able to derestrict it, depending on the age of the vehicle its usually something written into the ECU program and will probably have been supplied this way like new. TBH though I'm not exactly sure of the best way to go about it. May be worth speaking to Main dealer to see how esy it can be done, they may just want to supply a new ECU though which would be a considerable lump of cash...
A remap of the ECU may work but this might just change the fuelling and not affect the the roadspeed limit of the vehicle...
Hope that helps a little?
i would have thought its in the ECU, a part of the program that stops a ny more fuel going in when it reaches its pre set limit speed.
a remap would just make it get there faster, not affect the upper limit.
it should just be a case of removing the part of programing thought.
a trip to a dealer, and a few/50/100 quid to plug in his computer and remove the setting.
Im guessing though.
Just needs reprogrammed, but you'll need to go visit a dealer (or at least somebody with the genuine Ford diagnostic kit).
Mk7 Transits just need to be plugged in to the computer to choose from a range of limits. Mk 6 are probably similar.
I think the ECU remapping companies can also remove the limiter.
A proper transit, is nothing like a connect.
Martin at van tuner is the man. He is a very nice bloke too. www.vantuner.co.uk
