Who are we to judge that in the same paperless condition we wouldn't consider it enough of an emergency to make the call?

just been to a guy who's arm has hurt for 9 years, but his wife is "annoying me" so he wants to go to hospital, but not the nearest one, because he "knows someone who died there". Nope he wants to go past that one and all the way over to the other one.

On the plus side my supervisor just made me an egg sandwich and now I'm stoodby from home, so its not all bad!

I was talking to my brother-in-law who is a retired sub-editor for the Evening Standard about that story last night. He referred to "frivolous 999 calls" story as one of the "hardy annuals" which the press/media relies on.

The link states that South West Ambulance released details of the call to highlight the problem they have with "pranks and hoaxes", just in case anyone thought it was a genuine call.

In all seriousness Junky - I hope they had a great Christmas night with you - I'll bet you made it really special so they will have gone back with a smile on their face šŸ™‚

keep yer pecker up, never an easy time of year for any of us that are in that boat, random abuse on the internet works well, but look at the bright side - at least you're free to go and get pissed now [img] [/img]

random abuse on the internet works well

I find that focused abuse aimed at you, works particularly well for me Zulu-Eleven 8)

Mind you, I have to be in a good mood. I can't image login if I wasn't.

Anyway, +1 for your comment.........wise words indeed - pay heed Junkyard

Thanks Deadly, and you too.

I'm strangely reminded of No Man's Land Christmas 1914

It's all a bit of a laugh but it was a malicious false alarm that marked my dad's worst day in 30 years of being in the fire brigade. He was the County Fire Officer when a 12 year old girl phoned the fire brigade to report a fire in a hotel, the first fire engine to respond was in collision with a car which burst into flames killing the 2 friends in it, one of them was celebrating his eighteenth birthday that day.

Complete and utter waste of 2 lives and untold damage to others just to have a laugh.
