It can be number 1 on the list of benefits from leaving the EU

The UK could have done this without leaving the EU.

Will these new passports now 'qualify' you to stand in the non-EU queue at immigration along with the 'brown' people? Brexies will love that....

I'm wondering if there is some important news May is burying today as we rejoice in the blueness of our passports...

It’s about restoring our national identity, hurty. Nothing trivial about that, surely?

Will the new blue passports be the same impractical size as the old ones?

Yep, it will please a lot of the small minded brexiters.

Insults again. Brexiteers far more open minded and globally focused than Remainers. Did you read that Open Europe paper I posted ?

Enforcing Burgandy passport colour was just another example of pointless egotisitical meddling from the EU with a bit of subliminal encforcement of the Superstate message. Very Big Brother

Will the new blue passports be the same impractical size as the old ones?

Nope because they need to fit easily in the card readers / e-passport booths etc

TeamHurtmore don't mention Catalonia, the EU are doing all they can to avoid dealing with anything remotely difficult (like consequences of withdrawing aid for Mediterrainian migrant operation, kicking can down the road on the eurozone crises etc etc)

I'm going to get a maroon cover wallet when I end up with a blue passport, with a big **** off EU symbol on the front.

I am wondering why people are focusing so much on non news like passport colours. How trivial...

I think you know why!

"Yep, it will please a lot of the small minded brexiters"

Insults again.

Paranoia again. He selected a specific segment of brexiteers (small minded) and said it will please a lot of them, which i suspect it will. Seems like a reasonable statement.

Whereas yours

Brexiteers far more open minded and globally focused than Remainers.

seems to be a sweeping generalisation. SOME brexiteers may be more open minded and globally focused than SOME remainers, but equally some are hideous, small minded racists that would happily patrol the beaches to repel immigrants.

Catalonia ? The party with biggest number of seats want a devolved région, BUT still attached to Spain.
Maybe you should check your comments before posting.......

Brexiteers far more open minded and globally focused than Remainers.

Classic fake news tactics again.

Hit back against a perceived insult (that was actually aimed at a minority of Brexiteers) and then (with no trace of irony) post a counter statement that truly is a sweeping generalisation.

I can only assume that the alt-right meme generator is de-mob happy before Crimbo - Jamby losing the plot, ninfan basically giving up and becoming chewkw and even hurty letting his mask slip a bit.

Tut tut.

that is certainly a thorny problem for the spanish, similar to one we have with the SNP successes in scotland. struggle to see what it has to do with the EU though. would you describe the SNP's popularity in scotland as something difficult for the EU to deal with?
Brexiteers far more open minded and globally focused than Remainers.

Hmm, I'm struggling to come up with an appropriate description of what that is, especially when it's been posted by somebody with such a long track record in honesty as you.

Oh sod it, CITE
(that was actually aimed at a minority of Brexiteers)

You think? The general impression I've got that it applies to more than just a simple majority. I suppose unless you're thinking that most Brexiteers haven't ever been abroad at all so don't care (hint to jamba - taking an annual trip to Majorca doesn't make people globally focused - yeah I know I'm stereotyping horribly here, but that applies to a significant minority of Brexiteers who do have passports).

@welshfarmer - yeah I was also confused with the talk of reverting to blue passports, my previous one was black. I'm not sure if people are even older than me, or not old enough to have ever had anything other than a burgundy one.

@aracer keep playing the man not the ball / issue. Are we legally aboe to change the passport cover colour and remove reference to European Union whilst still a member ?

The £40bn is the cost of being in the EU, 2 years of budget contributions(£20bn) to year end 2020 plus a load of stuff the Remain campaign and sucessive Governments hid from the electorate - another £20bn

The bitterness of Remainers here is quite stunning. When I am not posting you have to keep attacking someone, anyone even fellow Remainers. So over to them you go once more

Will sarcasm detection operations be available, after Brexit, for democracy lovers who will retire abroad?

OH the irony

I love it when folk start of moaning about something and then end their post doing the thing they just moaned about...it needs it own internet law name as its very very common.

Very succinct....but....

You still miss the point that democracy is not a once in a lifetime choice.

Considering how fing badly the argument was from both Leave & Remain - I think it's only right that Brexit is challenged envy single step of the bloody way.

PARTICULARLY when the current Gov are shabbily trying to do as much as they can behind closed doors.

Can you not, for the love of God, understand why when the Tories who are so widely despised that folks are pushing back as hard as they are???

Hoist that on board, try some bloody transparency & some honesty with your words & you might.....MIGHT....meet less resistance.

It's not bloody rocket science FFS.

% of population that want to remain in the EU now the truth is coming to light

51%

% that still want to leave

41%

Labour MPs have been repeatedly whipped into abstention, to the point there's really no point in the labour party existing any more.

There's nothing democratic about that as the figures are completely unrepresentative.

I mean, why get involved with politics if you've got no intention of actually doing any politics?

The Labour Party are complete joke.

The fact that the PM even mentioned the colour of passports is testament to how desperate she's becoming.

A. No one gives a damn what colour thier passport is.

B. We could always choose what ever colour we want anyway because (see point A).

😆 the ex-pat defence - accuse those who challenge the accuracy of your comments of playing the man not the ball.

Yes we are able to legally change the passport cover colour whilst still a member of the EU. HTH

Not sure what Poland has to do with brexit, but to humour you I'll say its apparent recent lurch to a right wing /authoritarian party is clearly a symptom rather than a cause.

Did they forget Hitler at the same pace that half the UK population did? I'd say yes.

Judging by the reparations bill they want to send to Germany, I'd say no.

It's complete nonsense, even if an individual had a deep seated problem with the colour of thier passport, they could buy a cover for it, you can even get them in glitter.

Treesa missed a trick there, she should have announced the new colour would be British racing green.
