They're the same in the UK AFAIK.
But you might find them narrow.

Yes, I used to make shoe moulds, male and female sizing for the foot length is the same, though, generally, mens are made wider.
If you are a standard mens 8, Ladies 8 may fit you fine, if you have wide foot, then go a size up due to the width.

Oh, and that chart linked to above, I'd take that with a pinch of salt, UK 9 has always been a EU 43, that chart says its 8.5/43
