I need some new baggies and new liners but I've shifted a lot of timber since buying my MT500 Spray shorts.

How true to size are Endura shorts?

I think I'm going to want a size L, but I'm not certain and try before you buy isn't possible at the moment.

I have always worn a large in Endura baggies. I was a 38" waist and now have it down to 36" I have not felt the urge to change down a size. So if you are anywhere in that range I reckon you will be happy with that size.

Thanks. I've dropped from XXL to either L or M depending on how much vanity sizing is involved...

Most of my new clothes are 36", except for my jeans and work shorts that are 34". The work shorts have an elasticated waistband though, so that may have some bearing, although the 36s I tried first were way too big.

Their sizing is on the generous size but true to the sizing charts. Med is >33” I think

I’m a medium in most brand of shorts but a small (31” waist) in Endura stuff

Interestingly my older (8yrs ish) Endura shorts are med, so I wonder if they’ve updated their sizing in recent years

Hmmm, my last purchases were about 3 years ago. They are not generous. I bought XXL ( I wear 38 inch or 36 inch waist jeans, depending on brand. But jeans are well known for vanity sizing).
The green pair a noticeably bigger that the black pair of the same size.

I have loads of Endura kit, all the baggies are medium and fit well. I wear 34 waist jeans but am probably closer to 35

Well I have some more recent Singletracks (or Singletrack II's), I have a 34/35" wait and the large fits my waist ok, bit loose if anything, but they are tight on the thighs for me. I do have a lot of thigh though.

Fox defend shorts were spot on in a 34 if that's relevant. Too spendy for me though.

I have a lot less thigh than I used too...

Endura sizing isn't - or certainly hasn't been in the past - consistent, and it depends on the short.

Humvees wear big, baggy and long, so while a large may fit round the waist, be prepared for them to catch on any cable guides on your top tube.
Singletracks wear much closer to size, snugger round the thighs and slightly shorter in the leg.

Not sure about the others though 🙁

Yeah I've never had 2 pairs of baggy Endura shorts fit the same. We're not talking small differences either. As I discovered last week this also goes for their gloves.

I have a couple of older pairs of Endura Hummvees in Large and since lockdown they have become a bit tight for some reason :), im probably now a 36" waist however in contrast i have some endura humvee 2's that are also a large and the fit is spot on, i think the updated design has helped here, as my original Humvee's are a few years old now.

I have just invested in some Fox Flexairs size 36, as im a sweaty beast, and the fit is perfect. Will hopefully see how they are when riding tonight.

+1

I’m currently using L and M Humvees. 33” waist. The M fits better but is slightly too short. The L is slightly baggy but is the right length. The inner on the L is perfect. The M is too tight around the thighs. 🙄

It’s like different people designed different parts of the shorts. I’m surprised that the legs are the same length on each side of the shorts. 😁

I've been wearing Humvees for years and have an impressive pile of worn-out pairs. I've always worn Medium, but the last pair I bought (about 6 months ago) would look good on a clown. They're enormous. My size hasn't changed (30 inch waist).

This - and the same short can size differently in different materials.

When I was 36inch waist, I wore XL Humvees. I’m now 34” and wear L.

Why do we keep buying Endura? I've got (or had In the past) lots of their
clothing yet don't rate much of it.

Their Sizing is sporadic as is the fit

They aren't even cheap anymore.

They often have poor choice of materials like shorts that soak up water and weigh a ton etc

Lots of their kit looks sh*te

Poor colour choices unless you like black or bright yellow.

Their logo isn't the best but they insist on putting it all over their clothing.

I want them to do well as they're a Scottish/British brand but they still have a long way to go to get to the quality of the likes of RAB or Gore or Northface or many other outdoor clothing brands.

not really had a problem with this only by shorts (L) and gloves (M) always seem to fit well

They aren’t even cheap anymore.

i usually just buy them on sale, eg singlatrack backpack is excellent vfm & top quality kit

They often have poor choice of materials like shorts that soak up water and weigh a ton etc

my shorts & gloves at least have been fine

Lots of their kit looks sh*te

it may be a bit naff, but meh

Poor colour choices unless you like black or bright yellow.

i like black

Their logo isn’t the best but they insist on putting it all over their clothing.

this is probably true, I have the kneepads with large logos but they are brilliant kneepads so im at peace with it

More than half my bike clothing is Endura. I just buy Medium. It always fits. Most of the rest is Gore and Polaris. I just buy Medium. It always fits.

Sorry the question was semi rhetorical, thinking about it again I think I end up buying Endura (probably the same as most folk) because it's a brand you've heard of or seen about and it's just 'alright' and is generally in stock in a variety of sizes, kind of the Vauxhall of cycle wear.

It'd be great if Endura (or another British company) did a range of clothing that was a simple design in muted colours, using quality lightweight material, cut for the normal cyclist and at an affordable price. Can this be too hard?

Basically describes most of my Endura kit.

I've just looked around Enduras website just to check to see if they have got any better. There's a few items that look decent and use decent materials and are well priced (like their primaloft gold jacket and MTR waterproof) but there is an awful lot of very boring old designs that really haven't changed in the last 10 years. Fine if it fits you and you get it for a good price I suppose but all very meh.

Might be tempted to come back to Endura if they bring the zyme back but with a better fastner as they were very good.

I think the biggest challenge with Endura is that the quality of materials they use has declined significantly over time. To be fair, it's been 12 years or so I've been using them, but the first Singletrack short, and the second, were bulletproof and fantastically designed with stretch panels in the right places, magnet-close pockets and so on.

The third iteration switched to significantly cheaper materials, and although the cut's still good, the fabric inspires a lot less confidence.
If they produced the Mk2 or Mk1 Singletracks again, even as a special edition, I'd buy about 3 pairs. As it is I'll be looking elsewhere for my next on/ off the bike shorts

Actually made some of their clothing range here rather than being flown halfway around the world...

This thread has got me thinking. My old Enduras do the job well - but they have bugger all stretch in them - like what modern ones do!
I have just bought some Troy Lee jerseys with stretch in them - so what new shorts should i be looking at. They need to be reasonably priced - and not shell suit coloured, with some degree of stretch in them.

Thanks

I'd like it if there was more cycle clothing was made here, or at least we had the choice to buy local produce.

Never understood why Endura don't have a factory shop. I only live like 10 miles away.

This is a useful conversation. I actually gave up buying much élevé other than Endura, because I found their Humvee shorts and their riding tops and jackets to be so much Better anything else I could find locally at a decent price point.

So it’s interesting to hear that folks think they’re so lousy. Im now interested to find it what is so much better at a similar price.

To try and balance this out, Im a fan. Size small, 31 waist and 38 chest and everything fits well - road and mtb. Really like MTR, singletrack and F2260 ranges and I like buying British

Only if you want a high end skin suit or custom kit. I did ask
