I need to replace a short piece of cable [literally less than 2 x 20cm sections] that carry a maximum of 3kW (Immersion).
I have some spare 1mm twin and earth hanging around - the internets says that's fine but I thought I'd ask on here* too.
* Fully expect to be told that I should have the whole house rewired, shouldn't drive a big diesel, that my lawn needs cutting and it's all the government's fault.

Yes, you are correct - 'clipped direct' the current carrying capacity exceeds your requirement of 12.5A (3kW @240v)

Its very short so volt drop shouldnt be an issue.

Id be looking at 2.5mm probably for an immersion (i think the regs say 1.5mm minimum)

It's actually going near the CU in another room so heat is not an issue.

Ahh, fair enough. I do actually have a roll of 2.5mm but it's just a PITA to deal with as it's 'so' stiff! I was hoping to get away with something more flexible - not to worry, 2.5mm it is!
