Looking at getting an electric chainsaw- and saw this
not for anything too big but local stuff and trail build.
Anyone had experience of this or bought anything similar?
Cheers!
As per the other thread, I bought one of those, and a couple of batteries. First wee test for it last night, cutting some lengths of hardwood I'd liberated after a local forest was pillaged of it's softwood. Some sycamore, some oak, various sizes from 3-4 inches to 7-8 in diameter, cut very well, no sign of battery slowing after 20 or so cuts, well pleased with it.
It's primarily to take out for trail clearance at my local DH spot, and for quickly grabbing windfall etc for chucking in the boot. Chains are available for a tenner from screwfix (genuine oregon chains) as well, so ideal.
I'm happy with it, quieter than my husky, so the gamekeeper won't even know I'm there... 🙂
I bought one along with the strimmer and impact driver, for the money i was impressed to be honest, fine for cutting stuff up about 8-9" wide, struggled a little with anything bigger. But great for leaving in car for "foraging" a bit of wood here and there.
Aye, I picked up a strimmer too, rude not to at 20 quid!
Re chains, I've been recommended by a tree surgeon a co in Sheffield called rotatech. Anyone here use them?.
I bought a makita DUC353z on the cheap (body from cheapest place I could find, 2nd hand charger on ebay, after market batterys from Amazon), has 3 year warranty and is superb, but still over twice the price of the Aldi one. I'm tempted to buy the Aldi as well.
I have just ordered 2 rototech chains for my 4041c
Will let you know how I get on just brought home 2 trailer loads of scrumped wood
