Having a shoulder op on the 28th, and will be in a sling for 4 weeks-ish afterwards. Starting to make preparations, practising wiping one's bottom with my left hand etc, and thinking trousers/jeans with belts might be a bit tricky. So contemplating become a youth for a month and getting some jogging bottoms for day to day.

Is this even possible without looking like a right dingdong? If so, any other alternatives for stretchy waistbands for ease of putting on/going for a piss etc?

Why not take a picture of yourself and photoshop our requests of trousers onto it?

My choice is hareem pants

here you go..

My preference is for a topless pic too.

So many variables - how old are you, what do you look like, can you pull it off etc

In reality, who cares. Needs must right? Better than having a half done up pair of jeans/trousers!

The solution is more simple than I initially thought... just borrow a kilt off of Druidh for the duration.

Which arm is out of action? There could be a benefit here....

Feels like somebody else....

Wiping my arse? It certainly does.

Where's a bloody Russian Bride advert when you need one? That would make things easier.

Not far off that age where elasticated waists become more practical and desirable anyway 😀

If ever there were an excuse to buy a robot arm to "help you with your trousers" then this is it.

Gangster pants FTW. Get yourself down to Poundland and buy enough pairs of cheap jogging bottoms that you won't mind when, sorry, if, you can't make it to the bog in time.

Did you know that, when asked what his greatest regret in life was, MC Hammer replied, 'Those pants [sic] that I wore in the 'Can't Touch This' video?

So no, Jamie. Don't.

As someone who's broken his arm too (three) many times I can offer the following advice.

1) M&S trousers are elasticated, just enough if you're in a hurry.

2) Elastic belts are a sartorial sin, but also a godsend. Depending on the sling, you might also get away with braces which are even easier.

3) A button up fly on jeans whilst difficult one handed, can be done. And more importantly won't jam.

If you don't need to dress for an office, then Decathlon do a version of these that's cheap.

Day after the 28th is 1st March = Spring.

Far more options for elasticated waistband shorts.

I am in no nplace to give fashion advice but I would suggest you give some though to sleeping arrangments. Getting comfortable with a bad shoulder is almost impossible.

We're getting a Decathlon in Cambridge come April, quite looking forward to it....

Amitriptyline is often prescribed for this.

What's the op Jamie? I've just had keyhole surgery on adhesive capsulitis. Elastic waisted trousers or tracky bottoms were suggested and I was a bit concerned about whiping by bum left handed. As it worked out, I only needed the sling for a few days, I could manage zip flies and crucially wipe my bum right handed. Pulling socks on was tricky. Almost 4 weeks after the op now, still limited movement and some soreness, but getting there. It's going to be some time before I can get my arm up my back though.

As wilburt says sleeping can be tricky. I'm sleeping on my back and initially supported my arm by my side on cushions. Make full use of the painkillers and anti-inflammatories.

BUT... Your op might be totally different.
