In September there will be a group of us heading to Edinburgh for a mates stag do.
We will be there for a couple of days so apart from getting parra can anyone recomend some other activities?
Cheers Rob.

Paintball? Clay pigeon shooting? I can't really think what else you could do up here in a stag group as I don't really see the city like that.

You could also try the Malt Whisky Society- www.smws.com - as they can run private tastings of some frankly excellent whiskies if that's your thing instead

There's loads to do in Edinburgh, if you want decent advice you'll need to be more specific.

After white water rafing, paintball, go-karts the last few stags our lot have decided not to arrange any activies next time out. Activies with a hangover can be hard going and now we've all got responsibilities the chance for us all to drink all day only ever comes along on stag dos.

If wouldn't look too far past the bevvying myself, but if you really, really want to do something non-bevvy related then Roslin Chapel is the best heritage thing I've been to in Edinburgh. One of the most impressive historic buildings I've seen worldwide.

It's not actually in Edinburgh, it's a couple of miles outside the ring road. You could probably have a few stabilisers in Roslin once you finished looking round the chapel.

You will find that a large majority of bars won't let stag groups in so do your research upfront to make sure you know where you are heading beforehand.

But no doubt the Furry Triangle will be an essential pitstop later on in the evenings...

You could do the underground city walk - that's fun*

*But be sure to have emptied your bladders BEFORE starting. An afternoon in the pub followed by walking around in a cold and damp place with no toilets for 3 hours is NOT fun!

advice - when you are pissed and thrown out of the nightclubs at 3 am - if a cop comes up to you and says - "go home" - the correct answer is "yes sir". Mouthing off and being an arse gets you a weekend in the cells. a fairly common end for stag does in Edinburgh

i know someone who went on a stag do to edinburgh recently. they hired a midget who was handcuffed to the stag for 24 hours (and dressed as a smurf). costs about £200 apparently!

thrown out of the nightclubs at 3 am

You should never, ever be thrown out of a nightclub at 3am. By then you should have your face in the ample bosom of a lap dancer. It is Stag Law.

My mate had a cracking stag do in Ed. I think we covered every single bar we could find in a group of 10. Ended in a strip club, cant remember where, off one of the main roads. Got caught zip-tying the stag naked to a lamp post on a main road, police rocked up and said "whats going on here?"...."just tying him up here for a bit....its his stag do"...."OK, no prob, we'll come back in half an hour to make sure he's ok". It was a VERY cold night and they pointed out that they didnt want someone catching pneumonia from their stag do. We collected him before they returned.

Excellent.

My advice would be to look out for thieving Edinburgh bastards . That way you can avoid having to stand outside the Lap-dancing club at 2 in the morning cancelling all your cards and swearing a lot.

3 Sisters is a complete shithole.

have to agree but its ok for a stag if you know what to expect.. there are loads of better bars up by the castle on the main drag

was there last july for a mates stag

theres a tour of the old underground city which was ok to kill and hour.

we totally humiliated our stag by getting him on stage here...

I'm with coogan - the 3 Sisters is awful. I was there a couple of weeks back, and it's still as bad as ever. The beer is awful and overpriced, and the whole place smells of vomit.

Nice.

Burke and Hare - dirtiest strippers
Western - seediest
Bottoms Up - classiest
Liquorice Club - rubbish
