....................when they weren't sure they actually wanted the item but the price was so low they couldn't resist a flutter?
I did this afternoon and I'm still not sure. Wasn't pennies and I'm not saying exactly what it was but I feel a monster cross build coming on 😉
Any bargain stories?
CK headset 2nd hand, but in very good condition. Complete with ti cap bolt, ti crown race, and a bunch of carbon spacers. £51.
A nice bed. 99p. I took them a nice bottle of wine when I went to collect.
£50 for a USED bearing and some cups?
Dear god.
been watching a 2008 intense uzzi vp frame with totems and a load of other bits n pieces. it finished today at £510. think someone got one today...
99p string... So many times... I could open my own string shop, only I do not know how to open a small business and I have little time to run one anyhow...
I won some stars and stripes sram shifters...
I bought that goppingly ugly 2 wheel drive bike in Oz for $29...
That was a surprise to me 🙂
The Specialized Langster I got for £220 seems cheap to me - it's in pretty much brand new condition as well.
After a few shandies last weekend I bid, a not insignificant amount on a frame, fully expecting to be instantly outbid as it was cheap for what it was.
I'm currently in the process of gathering components to build it up. Oh and attempting to work out how to regain brownie points with MrsV...
I won a pair of new DT 440 hubs on Mavic rims for £50. They were listed as Magura, I doubt anyone else saw them.
got a 99p computer last Friday
Managed to get enough parts to make a spec decent enough to play a few games for under £100
The ****er that got my Fox Vanilla forks for £107 the other day. Well below the going rate. Probably someone off here.
as new 105 ht11 chainset and bb, £12.
got some bargin Fox Vanilla forks the other day....reckon i'll sell them on at a profit 😉
I bought that goppingly ugly 2 wheel drive bike in Oz for $29...
I remember that, have you got it yet? IIRC your son? was in Oz and going to collect.
My 'bargain' is quite ugly but may be ideal for the basis of a semi-fat trial 😆
brand new pair of sombrio forensic rasta gloves £3.80 bargain and still tagged 😀
A pair of SRAM anniversary shifters and mechs (stars and stripes) went cheap the other week
(apologies, but just couldn't resist)
I used to have one of them Tracey. It's a lovely light frame.
What did you pay out of interest?
Scalextric for £7.50 😀
£280 for this wasn't too bad (included Thomson seatpost and Hope collar)

Got some practically new Maui Jim sunglasses for 11 quid. Bargain.
That's how I ended up with my Hemlock. Came up on ebay, it had been built but never ridden then stripped down again, so practically a new frame, chucked in a bid that clearly wasn't going to win, then won by accident. Turned out not too bad really
My Bontrager Rhythm wheels were a crazy bargain too, because the seller couldn't spell Bontrager or Rhythm, I got them on a lucky search for "UST 20mm"
2x SC Hecklers (one for me 1 for the missus)
on the flip side a friend hit buy it now on a Blur lT at a Very good price only for the seller to announce it was already sold. C*ck
Charge Plug sold as being 3 months old - hardly used.
It came in a frikkin box with not a spec of dirt on it, if it had been ridden for more than a mile I'd be amazed.
£250 delivered, yey.
Watching a bike box, no-one bid so I made him an offer of approximately half the asking price and he accepted.
£45 set of Sennheiser headphones for £13 incl delivery a few weeks go made me quite happy

I'll pick it up next time I go over. My son collected it, and assures me it's the ugliest piece of sh1t he's ever seen, but it has its interesting points.
Nearly new gas central heating boiler for 99p.
stuartie_c - Member£280 for this wasn't too bad (included Thomson seatpost and Hope collar)
Wow. Nice deal.
I picked up a small steel Charge Duster frame for 43 quid.
Seller had it listed as a large Aluminium Duster BMX frame.
**** clueless idiot. Would of been rude not to have a cheeky punt.
Recently sold it for a more realistic price and a bought an mmmbop in a more roomy medium 😀
nice one Liam! 😆

Stolen bike perchance?
Someone on here ages ago pointed one out, unfortunately bidding had ended.
Something like '3 adult bikes, good working order.' That was it, full description. One picture of all three outside his garage, two Halford specials full-susses at the front, green hardtail at the back, barely visible. Went for about £20 for the lot.
Some keen-eyed person had asked for more pics of the green bike. T'was an early Klein Attitude, looked mint.
Brand new, boxed, Sigma 105mm macro lens - guy had 12 for sale and I stuck the same stupidly low bid (£60) on each of them. Totally forgot about it until I got the ebay email telling me I'd won. Seller was a bit miffed.....
Proper retro Kona Hahanananana, completely original and practically unused. No-one was bidding as the seller was in deepest, darkest Somerset and specified local pickup only. I asked him if he would courier it to me if I sorted it out and paid. He immediately agreed, I won the bike for £20 and paid £18 for the courier
Stolen bike perchance?
The frame number was cross referenced but it draw a big zero and I did ask the seller how he came to own it. Said he'd had it for a couple of years with the intention of stripping his old bike and putting all the bits on the charge. Said lack of knowledge held him back. It had clearly been stored somewhere though, judging from the thick layer of dust it.
Actually built up to a really pretty bike, just to small for me at 5'10"..
a month old Knolly Delerium,Cane Creek shock ,ti. spring, (my weight, what luck) king h,set etc. a snip at £1220 instead of £2500 frame/shock. £100+ h,set etc.... i feel a terrible guilt for the seller and best of all i was considering a new one at the time. life is good! (tomorrow i get run over by a bus....)
Planet-X Jack Flash frame for £28. Has now been built into my downhill hardtail and is great fun.
with a kyrisium front wheel? 😯
.......and how many people have read this ...........and followed it with a visit to fleabay! 😀
Got a BOB Yak trailer for £120, when I arrived it was in immaculate condition and was also the aniversary model. The guy who was selling it had used it once. Bargaintastic.
Quite a few years back, the Mother-in-law wanted a pedometer, but they were 'quite expensive' according to her, so she'd have one for her birthday. Won one off fleabay with a 1p bid and £1:19 postage!
Got a brand new Dirtworker for £19.95, chuffed 😀
and how many people have read this ...........and followed it with a visit to fleabay!
Funnily enough, after the shaving thread yesterday, the price of used Gillette razors seems to have jumped 8)
with a kyrisium front wheel?
unfortunately not! that photo was a few months after buying it. the front rim exploded on me when inflating it one day so i bought that off here - bargain price though. 🙂
99p string... So many times... I could open my own string shop, only I do not know how to open a small business and I have little time to run one anyhow...
Individual stringets - 101 uses around the home.
whippin mice and so on ,eh Fanylion?
mis-spelt Sworks epic.
£300.

A lesser-known Monty Python classic
Title: String
From: Monty Python's Flying Circus
Transcribed By: unknown
Adrian Wapcaplet: Aah, come in, come in, Mr....Simpson. Aaah, welcome to
Mousebat, Follicle, Goosecreature, Ampersand, Spong, Wapcaplet, Looseliver,
Vendetta and Prang!
Mr. Simpson: Thank you.
Wapcaplet: Do sit down--my name's Wapcaplet, Adrian Wapcaplet...
Mr. Simpson: how'd'y'do.
Wapcaplet: Now, Mr. Simpson... Simpson, Simpson... French, is it?
S: No.
W: Aah. Now, I understand you want us to advertise your washing powder.
S: String.
W: String, washing powder, what's the difference. We can sell *anything*.
S: Good. Well I have this large quantity of string, a hundred and twenty-two
thousand *miles* of it to be exact, which I inherited, and I thought if I
advertised it...
W: Of course! A national campaign. Useful stuff, string, no trouble there.
S: Ah, but there's a snag, you see. Due to bad planning, the hundred and
twenty-two thousand miles is in three inch lengths. So it's not very
useful.
W: Well, that's our selling point!
"SIMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL STRINGETTES!"
S: What?
W: "THE NOW STRING! READY CUT, EASY TO HANDLE, SIMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL EMPEROR
STRINGETTES - JUST THE RIGHT LENGTH!"
S: For what?
W: "A MILLION HOUSEHOLD USES!"
S: Such as?
W: Uhmm...Tying up very small parcels, attatching notes to pigeons' legs, uh,
destroying household pests...
S: Destroying household pests?! How?
W: Well, if they're bigger than a mouse, you can strangle them with it, and if
they're smaller than, you flog them to death with it!
S: Well *surely*!....
W: "DESTROY NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF KNOWN HOUSEHOLD PESTS WITH PRE-SLICED,
RUSTPROOF, EASY-TO-HANDLE, LOW CALORIE SIMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL EMPEROR
STRINGETTES, FREE FROM ARTIFICIAL COLORING, AS USED IN HOSPITALS!"
S: 'Ospitals!?!?!?!!?
W: Have you ever in a Hospital where they didn't have string?
S: No, but it's only *string*!
W: ONLY STRING?! It's everything! It's...it's waterproof!
S: No it isn't!
W: All right, it's water resistant then!
S: It isn't!
W: All right, it's water absorbent! It's...Super Absorbent String!
"ABSORB WATER TODAY WITH SIMPSON'S INDIVIDUAL WATER ABSORB-A-TEX
STRINGETTES! AWAY WITH FLOODS!"
S: You just said it was waterproof!
W: "AWAY WITH THE DULL DRUDGERY OF WORKADAY TIDAL WAVES! USE SIMPSON'S
INDIVIDUAL FLOOD PREVENTERS!"
S: You're mad!
W: Shut up, shut up, shut up! Sex, sex sex, must get sex into it. Wait,
I see a television commercial-
There's this nude woman in a bath holding a bit of your string. That's
great, great, but we need a doctor, got to have a medical opinion.
There's a nude woman in a bath with a doctor--that's too sexy. Put an
archbishop there watching them, that'll take the curse off it. Now, we
need children and animals.
There's two kids admiring the string, and a dog admiring the archbishop
who's blessing the string. Uhh...international flavor's missing...make the
archbishop Greek Orthodox....
I had forgotten the python string sketch!
🙂 I have it at home on vinyl
original 70's rocket lamp.most sell for up to £50.(i have interesting taste)this had no pic and i chanced the minimum bid of two quid.
char ching!
and they let me take three months to get a mate to collect it as it wasnt in my area.
couple of lucky second chance offers in the past as well..
The biggest steal had to have been a set of '08 Fox 40 RC2's. They were brand new & still sealed in the box. For the sum total of £270. He only lived 3 miles away too, so I went & picked them up.
He was gutted, but then he completely misadvertised them, so no wonder why.
I recently missed out on an Intense Socom frame & a few bits that sold for £190, finishing at a stupid time. Still kicking myself over that one.
3 year old £500 Kona Stinky Supreme. Freshly serviced 888s/Chris King/new SDG saddle/Thomson post/Nukeproof hubs/Mavics/new brake pads in recently serviced HFX9s. Total build cost could have been well over £3500. Tyres were a bit worn, but that's not a problem. The guy even delivered it.
It's a heavy old beast, but as my OH's Alpine blasting bike it's superb.

too many to mention but best was probably a brand new never riden (used at a trade show then dismantled) and already data-tagged Commencal Flame VIP Titanium frame
£800 for a frame that retails at almost £1800, (was pretty rare too at the time, shame they are heavily discounted at a couple of shops now though)
Lovely bike too
Followed it up with building it up from ebay parts including a brand new £35 XTR rear mech, £65 XTR chainset (used but good), £50 brand new CK headset and £680 worth of handbuilt DT Swiss/Stans/Sapim CXRay wheels (with tyres) for £300
RRP on whole bike comes to £4.5k, cost me about £1.6k but I did sell some sh*t at extraordinary good prices that prob brought that down to about £900
My best ever was a brand new Canon waterproof case for my camera (I scuba dive in another life). Retail at over £200, bought from main Canon dealer for £32 including shipping.
Got a brand new DT Swiss EX200 for £70 posted
I got the Mrs a new pair of Vans for £1.20, i felt guilty paying! 😀
Got this for £250
