So I was bidding on an item, I was winning and had been for about a week. Then a day and a half prior to the end of the auction the seller cancelled the auction.
I asked them why and they said they'd made a mistake on the reserve but I could buy it for plus x2.5 what I was winning it at when they cancelled it.
I would have probably have bid up to that anyway but that's not the point is it?
Can you do that? if so I'm going stick tons of my expensive stuff on there and then pull it if I get cold feet or I think I can get more for it elsewhere?
Don't think there any rules against stopping an auction early but the seller will have lost any listing / reserves fees etc
No rules really against it, but he would have been better sticking a reserve on it or holding his nerve, I've gone from selling a set of wheels for £10 to selling them for £170 in the last 10 mins of the auction. Are there more of said item on ebay?
Sounds like an Ebay newbie. Just move on and find someone else offering the same item (set up a saved search to be alerted when anyone lists the same).
It's frowned upon, but not against the rules.
He's taking **** with the response IMO so on principle I'd walk away.
