Give it a negative because you bought the car in good faith trusting the seller but the seller pulled a quick one on you. Yes, he might counter whatever arguments you put forward but deep down he knew you were an easy target. He knew that once he sold the car to you it became your problem and that you would be hard pressed to justify the problems back to him since you knew nothing about car, so now you give the problem back to him. A negative. Let him justify. He can huff and puff but make sure you wind it up many notches ... so let him explode.

That's not meant as a dig BTW, more of a reminder to learn from this experience whatever happens as there will always be unscrupulous types out there and if you're not knowledgeable about what you're buying then you need to protect yourself however you can, either by educating yourself, enlisting the help of others or by paying the premium of buying from a (hopefully reputable) dealer so you have some comeback.

Tell him what you found and you're not happy. Let him offer recompense. Depending on his response, then leave feedback.

I would have done a bit of 'tyrekicking' before completing the sale though. If the police had stopped you, it'd be you that had got done. It's the driver's responsibility to check the road worthiness of the vehicle. I wouldn't have driven for 2 months without checking the tyres. I check weekly, especially with the poor state of the roads these days.

For any given wheel size there are a fairly large range of tyre sizes that are appropriate.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you accuse him of selling you a car with tyres that are the "wrong size" as they could be perfectly fine.

Having said that, mismatched tyre sizes on the same axle is an MOT failure. So I wouldn't be too happy about that to be honest.

I would normally do a bit of tyre kicking but I needed a car and bid without really expecting to win. No chance of any come back the chap was like some car salesman off east enders. I trust the garage who changed the tyres.

What JY said. Looks like the seller didn't lie, he deliberately misled. "20%" is under "50%". Either that or the garage is telling porkies.

I'm sure you do, but that doesn't mean they were the "wrong size" for the wheels fitted.

It could just mean that they are not what their tyre chart says that the manufacturer fitted as standard.

For the tires, really you should have checked that when you picked it up, also, it's been 2 months, you haven't given any indication of how much driving you do, 5 or 500 miles a day?

for example a 205 60 16 tyre will have the same diameter as a 225 55 16 tyre - no issues there.

he's been driving it 2 months. unbalanced or shit tracking could have worn them out,.

+1 get the light looked at before shelling out on tyres. Could be wasting your money if there's a big bill waiting.

As above, if you spend that and get 6 months out of it you've done OK.

I'm tempted to leave netural feedback as I think this is unreasonable.

There is no way that should even be able to leave negative feedback after 2 months! You've taken a punt on a sub £1000 banger and really should not do that unless a) you know about cars or b)are really lucky.
How can you prove that these are the tyres that came on the car?
As said before suck it up and in future stick the new or approved used cars. If that is out of your budget then get an AA check before bidding.
How many miles have you done in 2 months is the question that still needs answering.

That's not a neutral feedback issue unless he/she specifically stated collection was possible. Might be an old lady who doesn't like strangers turning up at her door for instance. You bid for the auction with the postage - the fact you might have lived next door to them really doesn't matter.

2 months is 2,000 miles to some people - I doubt ebay would side with you if he raised a dispute and for the record neither would I .

YOU bought the car, deal with any issues on YOUR car and move on .
