anyone else had this? Ive bought a switch for a guitar pedal on ebay from an international seller, cost £7.00( and thats the genuine value of the item). Just had a note through the door from PO saying they wont deliver item until ive paid a £21 customs charge? WTF? since when did import tax = 300% x value of item?

No mention of customs charge on eBay sellers web page either

I'd not expect the ebay seller to mention it, it's not their problem.

Customs charge isn't just the tax, but a handling charge too. Though that's only £8 IIRC. Go to the PO to collect and ask them? Maybe they read £7.00 as £70/£700?

the £21 includes the PO 'handling charge' which is probably a fixed amnount.

nothign to do with seller really and some people get away with it most of the time (like deal extreme).

£15-£20 of that will be the couriers charge for collecting the import duty.

Oh and if the value's under £15 you shouldn't attract tax or duty IIRC.
