Bought this frame on eBay (yes, another one... sorry 😳 ), kind of couldn't believe it when my single somewhat speculative bid went through without competition and 'won'... now I'm wondering if it's all a bit 'too good to be true'... Seller is based in Poland, but has solid 100% feedback from 512 sales (almost entirely bike bits that I can see), so his eBay history looks fine. I think I'm mainly worried that it might be fenced or (if it's even possible) a fake? Or am I being paranoid?

What protections do I have with eBay and Paypal if I go through with the sale (which I'd love to do, don't get me wrong!) and it then turns out something is amiss? Am I protected even if the seller disappears into thin air with my cash? What if, at some point in the future, the goods are found to be nicked, do I have any cover??

What does STW reckon? Something dodgy, or all fine? What would you do?? cheers 🙂

you have to go through with the sale really anyway. you bid, you won.

use paypal NOT gifted.

if it exists and is all fine which it looks like it is then you will be fine.

looks like a genuine bike shop to me,think you will be ok.

You can prove you have brought it from ebay, and paypal will cover you if you dont receive it.

Stop panicking.

Lovely frame

No probs there, I want it! What about if it does turn out to be nicked or something, say in 6 months time someone tells me it's their's and has proof of ownership (receipt, serial number etc?)

I just have a nagging feeling I got it too cheap is all! You know what they say, if something looks too good to be true it usually is...

Get a cheap flight and go get it, plus receipt.

He might well not want to sell it to you because it went so cheap. Check the Polish equivalent of STW and see if he has started a thread there about not selling it because he didn't get what he wanted.

Usually, but not always 🙂

Anyway don't pay too much attention to what 'they' say - 'they' talk a lot of bolx 🙂

i thought you already posted about this frame and the fact you'd missed out? or am i getting confused with the sheer number of posts about a frame on ebay from yourself?!

Maybe ask the guy for his phone number and phone him. Ask him couple of questions about the frame et if he listed the frame with the description in english chances are he speaks english as well 😉 if it's the frame You posted before it's from Lublin so no airport there so collection in person would be expensive, guy has solid feedback etc. Maybe hard to believe but they do have good bikes in Poland 🙂 You paid with PayPal, You're protected if it doesn't show up. Can You maybe ask him for the frame number and email the manufacturer if it is legit?

Was initially being a bit coy as I was feeling a little embarressed with buying yet another frame (but this was yet another 'too good to pass up' opportunity 😳 )... I really do need to have a 'consolidation' clearout though!

'Tis all good chaps, I was just having a bit of a paranoid moment yesterday, I'm sure all will be OK 😆

Mieszko, wasn't meaning to be calling into question the Polish, sorry if it came across that way! 🙂

Nice frame. Looks legit too. I'd have thought you would be protected if paying using paypal. Make sure you pay using paypal via ebay though. Not via some other email address provided. If that worried give ebay a call. They have a pretty good customer service helpline when you can find the phone number 🙄

No worries Psychle, but seriously if it will make You feel better ask the guy for his number, it will cost You next to nothing to call him on a landline with Skype and if he's a genuine seller he won't have a problem with that. I can imagine spending £1k on a frame that will come from the "east" that You might have some concerns, but again solid feedback, good description and pictures. Hopefully everything will be good, just have it insured up to full value with a tracked service. For Your peace of mind maybe choose another courier company that will have a page in English rather than Polish only so that You know where to put the tracking info 😉

Or You can use www.google.pl, search for his name/frame and see what comes up 🙂

If its a business or shop, find their number through google and ring them.

In addition as above- paypal not as gift and ONLY to their verified address.

Personally I wouldn't have. I'd have let it go but it could be your find.

For extra reassurance just drop a few of the previous customers a quick email (high-feedback ones on relatively high-spend items) like this one;

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ultra-high-end&ftab=AllFeedback

Just say, bought something, is the location x and etc etc.

I just bought a marshall bass cab from ebay. No one got it the first time so he relisted it. Second time I bought it and was the only bidder. After a couple of days discussing courier costs he is now saying, "I'm sad to sell after having it for 20 years". Bought it for £100.

I once almost bought a signed Iron Cross citation for a Major signed by Rommel. Really wish I had but I was doubtful 🙁

That is a stunning looking frame.

Looks legit to me. Pay by Paypal via ebay and sit nervously with your fingers crossed until it turns up. 😉

If you pay by Paypal you're protected, even if it's a fake you're still protected.

Ask the seller if he can provide you with a tracking/ref number so you can track the postage.
