Anyone else get an email about DSR's? or Detailed Seller Ratings... You know, the wee stars you mark punters out of 5...

I got marked down 4 times as 2 out of 5 in the past 18 months for P&P - I was probably slow with it, but I still got +ive feed back. They are having a new ebay seller thing... i assume it makes you stand out as a proper good seller but only if you meet the criteria.

they tell you about it now, and give you until October to break above the criteria to get there!!

I personally think its a way of tricking people into rushing on a load of stuff to sell asap to try and make the deadline.

They are ****s!

They're a business.

It seems to be weighted more and more towards the buyer and making it harder to be a non-business seller. If you've got a high turnover and powerseller rating then you're alright, if you just sell the odd thing now and then it's becoming more and more expensive and less convenient.

If I got marked down to a 2 four times recently Id look at what I was doing wrong.

Just because you got a positive doesnt mean you didnt fail to meet the buyers expectations on timely posting, secure packaging and reasonable P&P costs.

I've given up selling on it, their inflated seller fees combined with paypal payment fees, IMO it's just not worth the hassle anymore.

yeah. its getting a bit silly now in my opinion, as soon as they stopped sellers being able to leave negative feedback!
i once got an email from a buyer demanding money back just so he wouldnt leave negative feedback, ebay didnt seem to care!

Agree it is expensive, but it's still better than a car boot sale or the stuff sitting in your loft/spare room.

E-Bay is flipping jip off. I prefer to scour the classifieds here and on bike radar for bike stuff. As for sellin stuff good God it's 'spensive 😆

Agreed expensive to sell, but even taking fees into account, selling stuff for more than you bought it for new isn't bad.

Rahter sell something on eBay for £100 less £10 'fees' than sell in the paper for £60 for free.

Heres where ebay's going... Can ebay rebrand itself as the webs walmart?
Higher value items now basically attract twice the fees selling by auction as by buy it now. It's not really an auction site anymore, is it?

Ebay fees are a rip off.

Singletrack classified browsers make ridiculously low bids, negotiate a deal then waste everyones time by pulling out.

Pick your poison!

you should just use ebay as an advertising tool.

With the right words and your mobile number in your description most sales end up being private. 😉 😀

I totally agree with the way Ebay removed the sellers ability to leave negative feedback. Why? Because its the buyer who is at most risk from any transaction with the most to loose. A seller dosent have to send any item out until they recive the payment, so the most they stand to loose is a little time and effort, and a few quid in fee's which are mostly recoverable. On the other hand, the buyer can loose a lot of money and may recive goods that dont live up to their expectations.

Sellers are always the last to leave feedback too, they would always wait to see what you wrote about them so they could retaliate. This led to a massive trend in sellers getting away with murder for fear of unfair retaliation in the form of bad feedback.

Sellers were routinely not sending items and claiming the recipient received them, or blasting buyers for being honest - why should sellers get a voice? Your voice is your positive feedback.

Buyers were routinely not bothering to pay for things they've ordered (even worse now). Trying to haggle prices after the auction etc. etc. - do sellers not deserve to tell others about the buyers?
